+++ Formed in 1947, the group began their singing career in the "Roxy Theatre" in New York, follwed by club appearances in Los Angeles and Chicago as well as radio and TV shows +++ Were signed to the CORAL label in 1949 +++ Their second release for CORAL, "Rap Mop" in 1950, already hit the jackpot and went to no. 1 of the US charts +++ Other hits followed, incl. "Sentimental Me", Can Anyone Explain?" and "Undecided" +++ Switched to RCA-VICTOR in 1953, without interrupting their succession of hits +++ Until 1958, amidst fierce competition from Rock'n'Rollers, they charted smashes such as "You, You, You", a Lothar Olias composition, "The Man With The Banjo", "The naughty Lady of Shady Lane", "Tammy" and "Melodie D'Amour", their last TOP 10 entry in November 1957 +++ Ed Ames recorded solo and charted between 1965 and 1969 several records, including "My Cup Runneth Over" from the Broadway Musical "I Do, I Do" at no. 8 in 1963 +++
