Formed his own band with his brothers J.B. and Clayton and drummer W.B. Holland +++ Radio and TV shows and a participation in the movie "Disc Jockey Jamboree" followed +++ First recordings with FLIP records in 1954 +++ Wrote and recorded "Blue Suede Shoes" in 1955 +++ Had a nasty car accident, just before the promotion tour of the record +++ Still sold more than 2 million copies of the song, but lost the chart battle with Elvis Presley, who had recorded the song a little later +++ Most of his later recordings had only little chart success +++ The Beatles recorded some of his "forgotten" hits during their early years, including "Honey Don't", "Matchbox" and "Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby" +++ Carl joined the Johnny-Cash-Show in the mid Sixties and remained with the troupe until 1975 +++ Had several comebacks during the 80's +++ "Blue Suede Shoes" received a Grammy Hall Of Fame award in 1986 +++ Was inducted into the Rock& Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 +++ Died suddenly of a heart attack in January 1998 +++ One of the greatest and most respected Rockabilly artists (Who knows what would have happened, if the accident hadn't interruppted his career in 1956??) +++
