Began performing at the age of 13 in a local radio show +++ Went to New York some years later, discovered by Bob Crosby +++ Recorded first with Glenn Miller, later with Charlie Barnet's Orchestra +++ First solo chart success in 1948 with "You Were Only Foolin'" on CAPITOL records +++ Became one of the big female performers of the 50's with "Wheel of Fortune", a no. 1 for 10 weeks in 1952 +++ Later hits included "Side By Side", "If you love me (Really love me)" and especially "Rock And Roll Waltz", a no. 1 for 6 weeks in 1955 +++
