Started singing professionally in a night club in Hollywood +++ Was discovered by Benny Goodman in 1941 and performed with his Orchestra until 1943 +++ Signed then with CAPITOL records as a solo artist +++ "Golden Earrings" at no. 2 in 1947, and especially "Mańana", for nine weeks at no. 1 and 48 weeks in the charts in 1948, were her first million sellers +++ "Lover" in 1953 and "Fever" in 1957 followed +++ Won the Grammy Livetime Achievement Award in 1995 +++
