Was discovered working as a street singer +++ Appeared in the TV-Show "Ready, Steady, Go" in 1965 +++ Also in 1965, he signed with PYE records and recorded his first hit, "Catch The Wind" +++ Sent his second record, the anti-war song "Universal Soldier" (not charted in the UK), in protest to British politicians and generals +++ Performed at the Newport Folk Festival in the US in 1965 +++ Further hits until 1969 followed, most of them own compositions, including "Colours", "Sunshine Superman", "Mellow Yellow", "Jennifer Juniper", "Hurdy Gurdy Man" and "Atlantis" +++
