Born: October 15, 1935 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Started singing professionally in the "Ye Little Club" in Beverly Hills +++ Joined the New Christy Minstrels as their lead singer in 1962 +++ Wrote and recorded "Green, Green" with them in 1963 +++ Also wrote "Greenback Dollar" for the Kingston Trio in 1963 +++ Recorded the anti-war song "Eve Of Destruction" in 1965 for DUNHILL records +++ Although banned on many radio stations worldwide, the title sold more than 5 millions copies worldwide and went to no. 1 on Billboard's HOT 100 charts +++ His later releases, however, only had little commercial success +++ Still records contemporary christian music +++ |
