The group met almost by accident during holidays in the Caribbean +++ After moving to California, they met producer Lou Adler and started recording for the DUNHILL label, in 1965 +++ Their first release, "California Dreamin'", reached no. 4 on Billboard's HOT 100 charts and became a million seller worldwide in 1965 +++ It was followed by their biggest hit ever, "Monday, Monday", a John Phillips song, emphasizing on the group's perfect vocal harmony, also in 1965 +++ Further hits until 1968 included "Dedicated To The One I Love", "I Saw Her Again, "Words Of Love", "Creeque Alley" and "Twelve Thirty (Young Girls Are Coming To The Canyon)" +++ The group broke up in 1968, when Mama Cass decided to pursue a solo career (biggest hit "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" in 1968) and John Phillips concentrated more on producing +++ The group reunited again in 1972, however, only for a short time +++
