Peter Noone adopted the name "Herman" due to
his similarity with "Sherman", a British TV
comic figure +++ The grou, originally performing as The
Heartbeats, was discovered by British producer Mickie
Most (who also produced the Animals and the Dave Clark
Five, among others) in 1964 +++ Their first recording for
COLUMBIA reached no. 1 in the UK and no. 13 in the US +++
Further hits followed, proving that the group was even
more successful in the US than in their home country +++
Their biggest hits include "Silhouettes",
"Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter",
"I'm Henry VIII, I Am" (not charted in the UK),
"No Milk Today", "There's A Kind Of
Hush", "Something's Happening" and
"Years May Come, Year's May Go" and many more
+++ In 1970 Peter Noone went solo - with moderate success
-, causing the group to split up shortly afterwards +++
