1945 Doug Clifford - born April 24, 1945 Palo Alto, Calif. Formed already in 1958 during high school, the group initally had only little success +++ Recordings as The Blue Velvets and The Golliwogs flopped +++ After John's return from military service, they regrouped in 1967 under the new name of CCR +++ Their first single in 1968 on the FANTASY label, "Suzie Q.", originally a hit for Dale Hawkins, was the first of a string of hits until 1971 +++ Further smashes included "Proud Mary", "Bad moon rising", "Green river", "Travelin' band" and "Looking out my back door" +++ When John Fogerty decided to go solo in 1971, the group's success faded and they finally split up in 1972 +++ In 1993 the group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame +++ |
