During his teens, his family moved to Detroit, where his cousin Nolan Strong sang lead with the Diablos +++ Met songwriter Berry Gordy jr. when singing at a local club and was signed to Gordy's sister Gwen's label ANNA in 1960 +++ Recorded and released shortly afterwards his biggest and most successful record, "Money", written by Janie Bradford and Berry Gordy Jr., which reached the US Top 30 +++ Recorded without chart success for TAMLA, ATLANTIC and other labels +++ Became a songwriter and producer for MOTOWN +++ Wrote, together with Norman Whitfield, a number of hits for groups such as the Undisputed Truth and Temptations, including "Papa was a rolling stone", "Ball of confusion" and "I wish it would rain" +++
