Formed originally as The Poquellos, while still in High School, the group began recording under their new name for the small TIARA label in early 1958 +++ Their own composition and first success, however, "I met him on a Sunday", was sold for national distribution to DECCA +++ When TIARA records became SCEPTER in 1959, the group released all of their following records on this label +++ A string of hits followed until late 1964, including "Tonight's the night", "Will you still love me tomorrow", "Dedicated to the one I love", "Mama said" and "Soldier Boy" +++ In 1968, Doris Kenner left the group, but returned in 1975 +++ Later, also Shirley Alston left to pursue a solo career, performing under the name of Lady Rose +++ The group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 +++
