Started out as a songwriter +++ Wrote "Come-on-a my house", a hit for Rosemary Clooney in 1951, and, among others, for Johnny Ray and Sammy Davis jr. +++ Altering the recording speed on tape, he created and recorded the novelty song "The Witch Doctor" in 1958, a huge no. 1 hit +++ Using the same technique, he also created The Chipmunks (Alvin, Theodore and Simon) +++ Had further hits with "The Chipmunk song", "Alvin's harmonica", all for LIBERTY records +++
