+++ Considered the successor to Nat 'King' Cole +++ First recorded "jazzy" style records for COLUMBIA in 1956, only with little success +++ Later changed to ballads and scored major hits with "Wonderful, Wonderful", "It's not for me to say", "Chances Are" and "Twelfth of Never" +++ His late 1957 album "Johnny Mathis' Greatest Hits" remained on the BILLBOARD Pop Album Chart for over 400 weeks in a row +++
