+++ Joined The Alan Price Combo in Newcastle in 1963 as lead singer +++ Group was then renamed to The Animals +++ Producer Mickie Most signed them to EMI +++ First release in 1964, "Baby, let me take you home", followed by the now legitimate rock classic, "House of the rising sun" (1964), both recorded earlier by Bob Dylan +++ Other classic Animals' hits in 1965 included cover versions of "Don't let me be misunderstood" (Nina Simone) and "Bring it on home to me" (Sam Cooke), brilliantly rearranged, however, by Alan Price +++ Further hits included also "We've gotta get out of this place" and "Don`t bring me down", the latter already on the DECCA label in 1966 +++ In 1966 Eric left the group, but took the group name with him +++ He reappeared as Eric Burdon & The Animals in late 1966 +++ Further hits on MGM records followed, such as "San Franciscan nights" (1967), "Monterey" (1967) and "Sky pilot" (1968) +++ By the end of 1968 Eric left the Animals to pursue a solo career +++ He reemerged with R&B group War, recording among others, "Spill the wine" +++ Today, Eric is still around (see recent picture) and performing +++ |
