Sail along silv'ry moon

Sail along silv´ry moon!!! Mann, wie konnte ich das vergessen! 1956?

Sail along silv´ry moon!!! Man, I almost forgot all about it! Was it 1956? Or 57? For the first time, young stud Wolfgang received permission to go camping in Eckernförde (North of Germany), accompanied, of course, by well-mannered, and, above all, older cousins. Near the beach there was an ice-cream parlor and right across from it a public dance hall. As little Wolfgang still was too young, he was not allowed inside - and cross as hell!! So he stayed outside, glued to the window pane, constantly posing and fixing his Elvis' style hair cut and listening to the music from the jukebox through the open door! From time to time his favorite cousin, Anne - although a year younger, but already well developped, she had no problems getting in - appeared with a Coke and a straw, for which she collected 50 pfennigs, only to put it right away into the jukebox: SAIL ALONG SILV`RY MOON! My kind of music!!! This very evening Billy Vaughn helped me to really hold hands with someone for the first time in my life!! I only had that one chance - and I took it. I was so mad at all those dancing close together inside the dance place, that a little girl from Neumünster - I lost her name, though - never knew what happened to her (nothing indecent, of course!). She was also on holidays - with her parents, who had just gone inside - and lost her heart in a twinkeling of an eye. But mine was also lost - at least for a couple of days, which we passed together on the beach, watched closely by her folks. Completely innocent, but very nice! Especially looking back...
