Hello, and WELCOME to my little Pumpkins Page on the Web. I started listening to SP a little later than usual people (7th grade) when I bought Siamese Dream, so I'm not exactly a pro at them. But I do know one thing---they kick ass.

1996 MTV Music Awards

In the early hours of September 5th 1996 (British time). The Smashing Pumpkins won 7 'MTV Music Video Awards' including "best video", "best alternative video" and "best breakthrough video" with the videos: 'TONIGHT,TONIGHT' & '1979'. The sorry Foo Fighters also won the "best group video" with the video 'BIG ME'.

In July the 3 members Billy, D'Arcy and James sacked Jimmy Chamberlain (drummer) after he had Overdosed and been caught in possesion of heroin. The part-time keyboard player ,John Melvoin, while touring with the Smashing Pumpkins was also shooting up with Jimmy. Unfortunately he died.

Currently they are using the Filter drummer, Matt Walker to fill in, until there touring ends.

* After cleaning up all of the awards at MTV the band are now touring America and in October/November they will be releasing the single "Thirty Three" and also a DELUXE 33 track boxed set containing all of the singles released on the "Mellon Collie and the infinite Sadness" album plus 5 previously unreleased cover version tracks.
