ETERNAL DECISION

ETERNAL DECISION
Well, for any of you who have been looking for a Christian band that sounds like METALLICA, this is as close as anything I have heard. I'm not really sure what they call this style of music now days, but it clearly has it's roots in what was called speed metal back when I was in high school. That was the time when Metallica was first coming on the scene, and I didn't care much for it back then, but it grew on me over the years, and now I really like it, if it's done well. I think that in the secular world Metallica set the standard for this type of music being done well, and in the Christian music scene that honor, in my opinion, would have to go to the first DELIVERANCE album. So it is against those bands that I judge the music of any other band trying to use this style of music. ETERNAL DECISION clearly has more of a Metallica sound over all then a Deliverance sound, at least as far as the vocal sound is concerned. The lyrics are clearly and boldly Christian, and the playing is tight and well crafted. My favorite song right now is a very well crafted rocker called OVERFLOW. The song really moves and starts off with the opening theme from Scooby Doo, which always makes me laugh. Another song that is now growing on me is called HUNGER, which is just another example of well crafted songwriting. There are times on the album where it all kind of sounds the same, which is not uncommon with this type of music, but those moments don't last too long, so they don't ruin the album. For anyone who is not familier with the style of music being discussed here, it's very heavy, but in this case not thrashy, which always makes me happy, as I hate when this type of music gets thrashy. You can get this album from Radrockers as well as other sellers of independant Christian rock.
