MIKE'S STUFF
IN NEED OF THE WORD
Is the Bible you own all covered with dust?
Do you feel like your soul's beginning to rust?
Has life dealt you pain that you don't understand?
Have you been fooled by the myth of man fixing man?
Do you try this and that to make yourself whole?
You won't become healthy with an unhealthy soul.
God's Word is a lamp that for us lights the way.
To help us grow stronger with each passing day.
Don't pass this by with only a glance,
To achieve peace of mind there's only one chance.
Pick up your Bible and prayerfully read,
Asking His spirit to help you receive
The life changing power contained there within.
The freedom to live--the freedom from sin.
For man cannot live by just bread alone,
But by each word of God the Bible makes known.

--------------------------------------------------
SHE BELIEVES HE'LL CHANGE
She believes he'll change,
but her eyes reveal the truth
Laughter has turned to sorrow
from all the heartache she's been through.
Her spirit's been imprisoned
by the fruits of so much sin.
And self respect is absent
'cause she gave it all to him.
She smiles for the world to see
but the emptiness shows through.
'cause in her eyes, she's dead inside,
and she wonders what to do.
He lives his life around himself
while she just pays his way.
She serves his intrests one by one,
while her life fades away.
Now there's nothing that he's taken
that she didn't choose to give.
But she's lost her sense of dignity
and forgotten how to live.
Now and then she takes a stand
and says that she'll break free.
But change becomes his middle name,
'til once again she believes.
And when loneliness gets the best of her,
She'll give him one more chance.
But he soon becomes just who he was,
The same old song and dance.
They never see what's missing,
'cause they've built upon the sand.
And without the solid rock,
they'll never have a chance.
So they run around in circles,
as she tries to rearrange,
and though he doesn't want to,
she believes he'll change.

MARTHA'S STUFF
Not exactly a poem, actually the words to a song I wrote. I just felt the need to post these here for anyone who would care to read them. God gave me this song after my uncle passed away and my cousin gave one of the best salvation messages I have ever heard at a funeral. I want my funeral to have such a salvation message, unless the Lord choses to come back and take us all before then.
I WANT YOU HERE
I did not want you here today, so you could sit and cry
I did not want you here today, so we could say good bye.
I want you here to tell you what God's love has meant to me.
He broke my bonds and took me home, His love has set me free.
I want you here to praise the Lord,
For the blood that He has poured.
He bled and died, the fight to win,
He saved us all from deadly sin.
I want you here to praise the Lord,
And be of one accord.
So you and me will always be
Forever in eternity.
Praise the Lord
I did not want you here today, to tell good deeds I've done.
I did not want you here today, to mourn things left undone.
I want you here to ask the Lord to live within your heart.
So we as friends here in the end, will never be apart.
I want you here to praise the Lord.
Just open your heart's door.
He waits inside, to be your guide.
There's nothing there for you to hide.
Just kneel down and ask Him in.
Just let Him be your friend.
He wants you to, He died for you.
There's nothing left for you to do.
For you to do.......
But just be here to praise the Lord,For the blood that He has poured.
He bled and died, the fight to win,
He saved us all from deadly sin.
I want you here to praise the Lord,
And be of one accord.
His greatest gift, to you and me
Is forever in eternity.
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!

MY PROMISE - I wrote this as wedding vows for July 2, 1994
Today I would like to tell you
All the joy that I feel in my heart,
All the feelings that I have to share,
The vows in which I'll take part.
But these words can only express,
A few of the promises I'll make,
A small portion of the love that I feel
In this bond that will never break.
For God has given us to each other,
To be together as husband and wife.
To love, to honor and be faithful to,
Helping one another through all strife.
So today I promise to love you
To support, and comfort and care.
To proudly wear this ring for all to see
This boundless love that we share.
And I pray that God will strengthen us
And in faith we will grow with each other.
So our family will be strong and true,
Our hearts bound in His love forever.

MARTHA'S PRAYER
I never walk as close to You as I should,
I don't take the time to pray that I could.
For my Bible namesake's life I do share,
Too worried about earthly duties and cares.
Too busy to take the time that I need
To answer Your call and Your will to heed.
So today I am here, asking You now
To remove the worried lines from my brow.
The dust and the grime will rest for today.
I won't fold the clothes, the bills I won't pay.
For what matters is not these things that I do,
But that I'll be in heaven with You.
Thank you Lord for Your guidance, Your patience, Your grace--
You've led me back home and slowed down my pace.
I pray for Your strength and in Your Spirit to abide--
Teach me to grow in faith and walk by Your side. Amen
