There are a lot of Pop music boy-groups appearing on R&B hit charts as regulars, but where are the real R&B groups? Well... I would like to list this Chicago-based new group Public Announcement on top of my BONAFIDE R&B artist roster, in the male R&B group category. Public Announcement is definitely one of the best R&B male groups around at the moment.

These four Announcers (the members of Public Announcement are sometimes refered to this way) from Chicago, Earl Robinson, Felony Davis, Euclid Gray and Glen Wright, describe their style as "raw, high-powered energy." The founding member Earl Robinson is the only remaining member from the original group that launched the career of R. Kelly (, who is also a Chicago native). Reformed and retooled, the new Public Announcement makes their successful debut with the release of ALL WORK, NO PLAY on March 1998. "It's About Time," a beautiful ballad off this album is currently on most R&B charts in the US and is being played on many Urban R&B radio stations like WBLS (New York City).
