I enjoy all
kinds of music, but certain artists' work means more to me. I am creating
this page about the musicians who have became an integral part of my daily
life. I couldn't decide on just one artist, so this site is dedicated
to my favored artists and bands.
1. Chicago I have heard Chicago
all of my life, but the first album I bought was Chicago 17 when I was six
years old. After falling in love with that album, I began to work my way
back in time until I had the first 16. I also aquired the new albums
as they were released. I must admit, I hardly ever listen to 17 anymore,
because I now prefer the older "real Chicago" music. My favorite album
is their first from when they were still Chicago Transit
Authority
2. The Moody Blues I grew up hearing the greatest hits that
everyone is familiar with, but after I saw The Moodies for the first time
in 1992 with Chicago, I was hooked.The music is very unique
and highly underated. If you are one of those people that thinks "Nights
in White Satin" is the Moody Blues, you are missing the best part of their
career! I especially recommend A Question of
Balance
3.Crosby, Stills, and Nash My dad played CSN a lot when
I was younger, as well as most of my other favorites. I have always
liked them and there was never really a great discovery moment for me as
with my other bands. I must admit, I took Stephen for granted until
1997 when I realized how amazing he is on acoustic guitar.
4.The Beach Boys Who hasn't heard them all their lives?
I saw the Beach Boys live for the first time last summer and gradually
became more than just a basic fan. I finally got past the "silly" surf
music to discover the beautiful melodies on Pet Sounds and later albums. I have joined my fellow fans in longing for the release
of the fabled Smile.
5.Fleetwood Mac Okay to be honest I only like the Mac when Lindsey
Buckingham is present. He is ,in my opinion, the world's greatest
guitarist. He is awesome live, but unfortunately, he is usually
overshadowed by Stevie. Just for the record, I am among the very few
who are not dreaming of their romantic reunion.
Now for my favorite solo artists... There
are only two who I admire enough to include on my list, and they are very
deserving.
1.Martin Page I am as interested in the art of songwriting
as I am by performance, and I have followed Martin's songwriting career
since "We Built This City" by Starship came out in 1985. When his debut
solo album, In The House of Stone And Light came out, I bought
it before I even heard the first single. The album is better than I could
have ever dreamed, and I am anxiously awaiting the next. Until then,
I can listen to the many songs he has written for others as well as
Q-Feel, an early 80's band that featured Martin on bass, vocals, songwriting,
and production.
2.Peter Gabriel Peter is very...unusual, perhaps that is
why he has a strong following of die hard fans. His lyrics and musical
arrangements are captivating as are his live shows.
