Undertow was formed while incarcerated in 1994, when bassist /vocalist Rick "Puddin' Hubbard joined the mighty Haywood brothers(Aaron"Cheappo"Haywood-guitars/vocals and Dave"Cheesy" Haywood-drums/vocals) to crank out some tunes and drink alcoholic beverages together. Over the span of 5 years the band has stayed together by never seeing each other ( like any successful marriage) even when rehersing. During practice each member has his own specially made set of blindfolds that he wears to protect himself from the ugliness that is Undertow. Their bra size (44 HHH) (total ages * stage names / number of times band has played Southhampton - amount of people that have seen them play + 3 last names all = Success. What the Hell does that mean? The band has certainly seen some ups and downs throughout the years with some of the highlights being opening for Flux, The Watchmen and early 90's big hair band Big House. They have recently won the same battle of the bands that the Tragically Hip( you may have heard of them) won years ago. 1996 saw the release of their self- titled independent release "UNDERTOW" going Gold in Cobourg while also heating up the charts throughout several indiginous tribes of the central, outer most reaches of Borneo. The band is currently spending its time finishing up in the studio with 6 new tracks that show the growth and progression of the band since 1996. March 30/99 sees the release of Emperor Records independant compilation fittingly called

"The Alliance"

Undertow is featured on this compilation of hard- rockin bands and is one of only three Canadian acts that made the cut for this CD.Other bands hale from the U.S.A,Ukraine,South Africa,etc.. With confirmed radio play by such stations as Q.107 Toronto, Kiss Fm Seattle,Wa U.S.A, The Hardside Berlin Germany,and Powerzone Johannesburg,South Africa, just to name a few. With Magazines such as Metal Hammer(England), Spin City(Belgium),and Invader Metal Zine(Germany) pushing the CD, the new millenium could belong to Haywood, Hubbard and Haywood.But probably not ! Undertow "Let the music pull you Under!"
