HEART 2 HEART WITH 'NSYNC's JUSTIN

Tell us about your most embarrassing date?
"I was at a party once and my mates came up and de-bagged me(pulled his trousers down!)in front of my new girlfriend. Luckily my boxers didn't come all the way down, but it was pretty embarrassing because I was standing in the middle of the room and it was quite a big party. The girl giggled and I looked at her and giggled because I didn't quite know what to do."
Have you got a girlfriend?
"Not at the moment, but I'd love one right now. Sometimes it gets lonely on the road."
Were you a bit of a ladies' man in school?
"Yeah, I'd have to say so, I was pretty involved with the ladies at school. If I was given a choice of hanging out with my mates and hanging out with the ladies, I'd go for the ladies every day!"
Would you ever snog one of your fans?
"It would depend on how I felt about them. If I was attracted to them, sure. I've haven't snogged one yet but there's always a first time."
Which Spice girl would you like to go on a date with?
"Probably Scary Spice. Because she's very unpredictable. She's the sexiest, her style is really spunky and she might end up humiliating me. The fact that she doesn't care about what people think about her is cool-she does her own thing."
Are you romantic?
"Yeah, hopeless! I like to be spontaneous. I surprised one girlfriend by turing up with a picnic that I'd cooked myself. Her grandma let me in while she was in the shower and she came out to find me in her sitting room with all the food laid out!"
Are you a jealous boyfriend?"
"When I get really involved with someone I tend to get jealous, but normally I'm not a overly jealous type of person."
Who's your dream woman?
"Sandra Bullock-I think she's great. And there's Tyra Banks, Halle Berry and Jada Pinkett. Variety is the spice of life!"
Do you like girls to ask you out?
"I think it says something about their personality if they ask me out. It shows they're not into boring things."
Do you like the girls to take control on dates?
"There's been times girlfriends have hinted that they want to take control of the situation-it's kind of a turn on!"

MAD,
Penguins, jelly and wild dogs. Prepare to enter the weird world of 'NSYNC...

So who talks the most, then?
CHRIS: Joey, definitely. Once he starts he just goes rambling on and he doesn't stop for a breath! IT all ends up being one huge, long sentence like this, and you find yourself trying to breathe for him!
JUSTIN: Ahh, don't...you'll give him a complex!!
Who's the funniest?
JC:Probably Chris-he's the crazy one...
LANCE: Yeah, he's a coupla sandwiches short of a picnic!
CHRIS: No Lance, you're the funny one!
JUSTIN: I think everybody has their moments, but Chris just seems to have more of them!
CHRIS: I think we're all equally funny-it's just I come out of the box the fastest!
JUSTIN: Tell the squirrel joke?
JOEY: How do you catch a squirrel?
Climb up a tree and act like a nut...It's not really very funny is it?
CHRIS: How about this one? A guy walks into a bar and says "ouch"...
(This appalling joke telling goes on for ages and gets even worse!)
CHRIS: The best ones are when we go to countries that don't speak the language and we tell our joke, but we've all got different versions. Mine goes, two penguins were on a boat getting some sun. One penguin says to the other, "Would you please pass me the radio?" And the penguin says " What do I look like a tomato?" (guffawing)
LANCE: And they don't understand, but they laugh politely anyway!
CHRIS: Oh no, we've just used up all our jokes in one go-we'd better shut up!
OK, seriously now...who has the most mishaps?
JOEY, LANCE,JC and CHRIS: Errr...(all looking at Justin who's actually sitting there with a hugely bandaged thumb!)
JUSTIN: Yeah, alright, it's probably me! I broke my thimb breakdancing. Joey steps on people's feet a lot, though, but that's because he can't help it-he's just got very big feet!
Who's the best at chatting girls up?
JUSTIN: Joey. He's always chatting to girls-he's very flirtatious.
CHRIS: It depends, though. I think Lance is pretty good at it, too, and he's sneaky with it. You don't really know he's doing it 'til bam, it's too late. But the question is, are you good if you don't make any fuss and just do it, or are you good if nobady knows your doing it?
JOEY: Then JC's just cheesey, he's got all these really bad chat up lines, and I promise that the other day he actually said to this girl, " So how often do you come here?"!
JC: OK, I asked that once, alright?
CHRIS: Yeah, but closely followed by, "What's your star sign?"
JC: I wasn't trying to pull, I was genuinely curious about how often this girl worked at the gigs, so I said "Do you come here often?" and it just came out really wrong. And the minute I'd said it, everyone was like "You are a loser!"
So who's the biggest party animal, then?
JC: We all have our moments, but Joey and Chris always stay up the longest.
JOEY: You see, JC matures too quickly. He peaked at the agge of 15 and he's going down hill slowly. All he wants to do now is sleep!
LANCE: I agree, though. The worst feeling in the world is waking up in the morning.
CHRIS: No it's not-the worst feeling in the world is when you stick your hand into a bowl of jelly and then don't wash it off. Now that's a bad feeling-it goes all sticky and crusty! (?)!
OK, you're all big ravers, but who's the shyest?
LANCE: Me, probably.
CHRIS: He is actually really laid back and kinda shy.
LANCE: I'm alright once I know poeple, but at first I find it really hard.
JOEY: Lance uses us like wild dogs-he holds us by the leash and waits for us to sniff poeple out and then he goes and meets them himself!
Right boys,own up-who's the vainest?
LANCE: I can't bear looking in the mirror-I guess that's why my hair looks like this!
JUSTIN: None of us are particularly vain-we pretty much throw anything on.
JOEY: Honestly though, if we had to pick someone it'd probably be me!
CHRIS: Although JC does dance in front of the mirror quite alot and he makes all these crazy faces at himself!
Who's the leader in the pack?
JOEY: There's isn't one, really.
JC: Everybody's got their own role and is a leader in some respect-like Lance, for example, has always got the schedule down pat. He's always on top of that.
Are any of you worriers?
JC: I guess I'm pretty paranoid.
CHRIS: Yeah, he tends to really stress about how many records we're selling and what people think and all that.
JOEY: Sometimes me and Chris want to go out and party all night, and JC's like, "Well we've got to get up early for a photoshoot in the mornin, so if you want to look alright..."!
CHRIS: ...and then the next morning he'll look at us and go, "So you stayed up late last night, then-you're going to look really good today aren't you?".
Who gets the most homesick?
JUSTIN: Well we all do, but we don't really talk about it. Anyway, the five of us are like a family and we all look out for each other.
CHRIS: Sometimes I get more homesick when I'm at home-I miss all the touring!
get time to think about it-you just get on with it...
JOEY: And when you're on the road you're so busy you don't even

Earlier this spring, we were lucky enough to have Florida-based boys 'N SYNC take time out of their jam-packed schedule to join us here at BB HQ for and extendo-visit, a few photos and some greasy burgers. Of course, we were all eager to meet the five cuties behind the hit single "I Want You Back"-Lance Bass, 19; Joey Fatone, 21; Chris Kirkpatrick, 26; Justin Timberlake, 17; JC Chasez, 21-so we grabbed a guy and grilled him on everything from music to girls. Here we give you our personal account of going one-on-one with the boys of 'N SYNC.

Justin

By Kristin
Justin had every right to be cranky and crabby when he plunked down in my office for and interview. After all, in the last three days, the poor guy's hectic schedule had sent him zooming from Houston, Texas to San Fancisco, Califonia to Orlando. He'd criss-crossed so many times zones that I would have completely understood if he was a little zoned. Instead, Justin turned out to be a good-natured, outgoing guy who doesn't let a little thing like jet lag put a damper on his totally cheerful attitude. There was only one thing that Justin was bummed about: The singer told me that his tiring schedule causes his biggest beauty problem. "I get bags under my eyes," he groaned. "See?" I inspected his beauteous blue eyes, but to tell you the truth, I didn't see the teeniest thing wrong with him at all. Justin is just as cute-if not cuter!-in person as he is in his pictures. He's also so friendly and sincerely interested in what you have to say that before you know it, you find yourself chatting with him like best buds. "I've never had a problem talking to somebody to find out what they're about," he shared. "I like talking to people." It wasn't long before we were kicking back and dishing out perosnal details, like the fact that Justin watches sports on TV, adores his dog (a Cairn terrier named Ozzie) and is totally addicted to Cap'n Crunch cereal. Hmmm...maybe it's all that sugar that makes this guy such a sweetie!

Chris

By Robin

If there's one thing that Chris will never give up, no matter where 'N SYNC's fame and fortune take him, it's answering the hundred pieces of fan mail he recives every day on his computer. "I get them from all over Asia, to all over Europe, to all over the States," he told me. Obviously, Chris is sincerely dedicated and completely grateful and deserving of all his sucess. After all, he realizes that if it wasn't for his relentless fans, he wouldn't be where he is today-and that also means being interviewed at BB! Chris also told me that when he's not busy answering mail en route from one destination to another while promoting his group, he is a Play Station guru! "I bring my video games [everywhere]," he beamed. But aside from anwering mail, honing his video-playing techniques and tending to his dreadlocks (he confessed that he's extreamly carefulwith them and washes them every single day), Chris is constanly trying to catch up on his sleep since he often works until 1 a.m or 2 a.m and them has to wake up at 5 a.m and catch a plane! "I've learned to sleep on airplanes a lot and sleep in vans," he said. "You find the weirdest confortable positions. Luckily I am smaller than the other guys, so I've got my feet tucked into the airplane pockets." That is, he joked, "until we get rich and famous and use first-class all the time."

Joey

By Staci

Although I'd interviewed Joey on the phone before, I'd still never actually met him and I was curious to know if he was as sweet and outgoing in person as he is on the phone. Fortunately, I learned that funloving Joey is the real deal. Frequently described by other bandmates as the most happy-go-lucky of the bunch, Joey lived up to his reputation. He no longer sports a goatee, which we agreed make him look older, and with his super-casual look-a form-fitting Super-Freak T-shirt (which he wore in honor of his main passion, Superman) and baggy jeans-Joey was definitely the most laid-back and non-celeb-like of the guys. While waiting by, and in betuween answering questions and posing for photos, he joked with the staff and his bandmates, keeping everyone in smiles. Yet it isn't just his personality that wins you over when you meet him-Joey is even cuter in real life than he is in pictures. However, he won't tell you that. "You' have to be the judge," he responded with an embarrassed grin when I asked him whether he likes himslef better in photos or in realy life. Of course, once you get to know Joey, you understand that he really doesn't care what he looks like anyways. "I'm just there," he said about his looks. And, you know what, after meeting him, you want to be there with him, too.

Lance

By Leesa

Lance was my first official interview for BB, so I was a bit nervous. I really didn't know what to expect-a cocky, self-absorbed songster? But, no way! Lance turned out to be a totally down to earth sweetheart. As a matter of fact, he was totally sympathetic to the fact that I was novice interviewer and he didn't make me feel dumb if I made any mistakes. It was obvious from the start that Lance is playful, experimental type who isn't afraid to take risk on how he looks. Recently, he bleached his hair bright white. And I do mean bright! Many people might be afraid that a move like that would make them look super silly so they wouldn't even try it. Turns out, the risk was well worth it-his new 'do makes his skin look tan and brings out his gorgeous green eyes. And he likes it much better than before. "If you were to see my old hairstyle, it was awful," Lance said with a Southern twang. "It looked like I didn't even care." Well, the sweet singer may be more concerned with his looks now, but, believe me, there was no star-powered ego-mania in sight! In fact, he was much more excited to talk about his all-time favortie idol than himself. "I love Rosie O'Donnell. She is my favorite perosn in the whole world," he told me as her perked he perked up in his seat. Well, you'd think he would jump at the the chance to meet the daytime TV diva. Wrong! "I don't want to meet her right now because I want her to actually know who we are first, " he explained. How sweet. Well, judging by 'N SYNC's swelling success, that may be sooner than he thinks!

JC

By Carrie

If I had to pick one word to describe JC, that word would be energetiv. Oh sure, when he walked into my office wearing blue jeans adn a bright green and black polo vest, I thought he was cute, charming adn majorly sweet. But when I really thought about it, engergized is waht this singer is all about. Even though JC hadn't eaten lunch when we talkied at 3:30, you wouldn't know he was low on fuel. He was still totally animated and didn't skip any details when spilling the beans on eveything from girls to sleeping habits-to his major fear of needles. "It doesn't matter how small or painless it is," he said. "I'm terrified!" Needless to say, my 45-minute interview with JC just flew by. I was totally captivated by his storytelling style. The way he changed his voice whenever he imitated someone and used his hands to emphasize a point was so cute. It would have been great just to sit back and let him ramble forever. But, unfortunatly, I had to rush him through because I had a list of questions to ask. JC is definitly one of those most personabke and up-beat performers I have ever interviewed. Words really don't do him justive. You have to see him to really appreciate him. I wish you could have been there with me!

'NSYNC:
Devilish Dogs or Puppy Loves?

Justin, Joey, Chris, Lance and JC are way talented , super succesful, and they've got tones of fans hounding them for attention. But are these adorable guys with the puppy-dog eyes as cute and cuddly as they look?

Sure, this talented Orlando Florida-based quintent has the drool-worthy good looks and to-die for voices that practically guarantee big-time success. But now that these five babes have a smash hit with " I want you Back," are they still the nice guys they seem to be, or has fame and fortune changed their outlook from sweet as sugar to rough and tumble? After all, hectic schedules and tones of touring are enough to toughen up just about anyone, right?
Well, you can bet Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass and JC Chasez aren't going to let a little bit popularity go to their heads. In fact, each one of them will admit to letting their hearts lead the way when it comes to a super-sweet subject they each really care about. You see, these diehard animal lovers have a passion for pets in all shapes and sizes, and they're even finding a way to take their craving for cuddling on the road with them!
a fur-ball fix
Having a companion as loyal as a golden retriever or a kitten can be really appealing when you're working in show biz, where people aren't always what they seem-just as Chris. "You realize a lot of these people are so fake because they come up to you and they want to be your friend now that you have a name," the 26-year old brown-eyed babe tells BOP. "You just sit there and say 'Well, if I weren't in a group. you wouldn't even be talking to me.' It makes us real weary."
Cuddling up with a caring canine at the end of the day might also help these hardworking wonders unwind-and they sure could use the stress detox! "We tour so hard," 17-year old Justin groans. "We've toured for a month straight, city after city, and we'd get maybe two days off the entire tour. I had never experienced touring to the point where you started losing weight!"
Of course, all that show-biz frazzle and dazzle is nothing a little puppy love couldn't cure, but it isn't always easy having a pet when you're touring and traveling all the time. Lance discoverd exactly that not long ago when the band was spending loads of time in Europe. "I used to have a dog, but I had get rid of him because we've been traveling way too much,"the 18-year old sighs. "I couldn't take care of him."
Lucky for Lance, everything worked out fine when he tried to find a new home for his pup. "My mom's a school teacher and one of her kids took him so it was a good thing," the blonde sweetie explains. "He can run around now."
a crave for cuddling
Even though the puppy adoption untimately worked out for the best, talk about heartbreaking! Lance isn't the only member of the band to be crushed when a four-legged friend had to behind. Justin majorly misses his dog, Ozzie, whenever he's on tour, and JC is still smarting from the death of his dog Grits. "I had a dog, but he died 6-months ago," the 21-year old tells BOP. "We still have a cat named Belle, but we haven't gotten another dog since."
So how do these guys satisfy their need for some pet TLC? Chris had the bright idea of nabbing a majorly low-maintenance house pet:a tree! Chris even jokes about someday taking his tree for a walk, since it's truly an indoor "pet."
As for JC, he relies on cuddling up with another easy-to-care for animal option. "Usually I keep a stuffed animal from a show to sleep on while we're traveling," the blue-eyed hottie tells BOP.
And Joey, well, he just tries to remember that he won't be on the road forever and that someday soon he may have his own place with a backyard just right for the perfect pet. "The happiest I could be would be to have my own house," the 21-year-old's gushed. "I want a big house, probably in Florida."
Even though these sweeties can't keep pets of their own around these days, they've hatched a bright idea to not only cure their cuddling craving but to help out animals in need. For their next tour, 'NSYNC hope to adopt a puppy from an animal shelter, take it on tour with them, then give it away at the end of their tour to one lucky fan! Not only do they make a furry friend for a few months, but they also save an animal from being destroyed. Now that's truly puppy love!

'NSYNC:
Truly In Synch

Who's the funniest? Who's the flirtiest? And who's the most wildest member of this Florida-based band? 'NSYNC tells all!

If you've heard them jamming on "I want you Back," that oh-so-sweet single that's been riding the radio airwaves all winter long, then you already know that 'NSYNC are totally talented.
One look at pictures like those here and you also know that they are also a babelicious bunch. But aside from this, what do you know about this quintet of QT's? Since their self-titled album is just hitting the stores this month, we're guessing you probably don't know much about them at all. So when Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake of 'NSYNC recently phoned BOP HQ for an extendo-chat, we asked each of them to give us the dish on their bandmates.
Take 21-year-old Joey, for instance. It seems he's always full of smiles and cheerful 'tude, even after long, dull days on the road and exhausting weeks packed with photo sessions, press conferences and concerts. "Joey is like Tickle Me Elmo," say's Chris. "He's the only person I know who wakes up every morning in an incredibly great mood. He's optimistic and very happy-go-lucky." He's also very flirtatious. "He's a lady killer," affirms Lance. "He flirts with all the girls!"
However, 18-year-old Lance definitely is not the flirty type. "He's our shy guy,"says Justin. But, Justin adds, Lance is only shy around people he doesn't know too well. When he's hanging with his buds in the band, he's totally outgoing, swapping stories, telling jokes and sharing his business ideas. "Lance is definitely the businessman of our group,"Joey tells BOP matter-of-factly. "He's always thinking about marketing and he's always on top of things. We call him Scoop because he always knows everything."
While Lance gets a handle on the bands's business matters, 21-year-old JC takes care of the personal stuff, like making sure his bandmates are eating healthy meals and getting enough sleep. "JC is the daddy of the group," Chris shares. "He's the one who is always like, 'I don't think we should go party tonight. We have a photo shoot tomorrow, we should stay in and get some rest.' He really takes care of us. He babies us."
Not that Justin needs to be babied. In fact, if the guys in 'NSYNC gave awards for the Most Mature and Most Reliable Member, Justin would win both. "Justin is our youngest member, but he's also the most mature," Chris tells BOP. "He's got a really good head on his shoulders. When it's time to work, he's always there to work. He's very responsible and he knows what's expected of him. That's really impressive, given that he's only 17."
As for himself well, Chris,26, probably needs JC to watch over him once in a while. "Chris is the crazy one in the group," says Joey. "He's always really spontaneous, really funny. We never know what he's going to do!" JC agrees. "He's not shy about anything at all, period," he tells us. "Yeah, he's a little crazy."
They may have five totally different personalities, but that hasn't stopped the guys in 'NSYNC from becoming best buds. "My best friends are the guys in the group," declares Justin. "We're really close." Sounds like these five are in synch!

In Sync with 'NSYNC

These Florida-based guys are NOT just another boy band.

When BOP met Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass from the group 'NSYNC last summer on the Malibu, California set of their music video for their European hit single, "For the Girl who has Everything.," we knew from watching their performance that their smach sucess in Europe would cross over to North America in no time. Well, that time has come, and today, the band is getting ready to take on their home territory with the single "I Want You Back" from their soon to be released American Album.
But wait, some of the boys from 'NSYNC look familiar, that is because two of the group's members, JC asd Justin, used to be on TV's The Mickey Mouse Club. Meanwhile, Chris and Joey worked at Orlando, Florida's Universal Studios(where MMC was filmed)while auditioning and signing, acting and dancing gigs. Around this time, Chris was interested in starting a band, ans he approached his pal Justin, who's show had just been canceled, about his idea. Justin liked the idea and asked JC to join them.(OK, still with us here?)
Then, when the threesome saw their friend Joey's awsome dancing skills at a nightclub one evening, they convinced him to be the fourth member. But one thing was missing: a guy who could hit the low notes. "We needed a bass," 26-year old Chris explains to BOP. "So we called Justin's vocal teacher, and she recommended Lance."
After two years together, 'NSYNC are a top-notch act. Yet with all the numerous biy bands out there today, what makes 'NSYNC different from the others? "We do a lot of a cappella, five-part harmonizing and stuff," says Joey,21. "That kind of sets us apart."
In addition to their R&B sound, the band also puts on a great live performance. "We like to dance a lot and entertain," 18-year old Lance tells BOP. "Our whole show has choreography. Even in some of the slow ballads, we're always moving."
But above and beyond their musical talents, they are all best buds, bound together by a common lover for singing and performing, which is something that can't be manufactured. "We're not fake; we weren't put together by a record company," explains 17-year old Justin. "We put ourselves together through friends."
21-year-old JC continues the thought, adding that what you see with 'NSYNC is truly what you get. "We put ourselves together, so your chemistry is genuine," he explains to BOP. "It's not an act."
And, of course, strong bonds of friendship can never be broken, which is why Chris feels the band is destined for longevity. "We're in it together, and that's what keeps us strong," he says.
More power to yo guys!

'NSYNC:
The Music That Moves!

While frantically pushing the scan button on your radio trying to find something decent to listen to, have you ever wondered what songs would make some of your favorite music stars hit stop? Well, we have. And when we asked the boys of 'NSYNC, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Justin Timberlake, what music captures their ears, they reveal a mix of bands that have impacted their own music-and some of their favs are now their closest friends!
You wouldn't necessarily know it by listening to their music, such as their single "I Want You Back" off of their just released self-titled C.D, but everything from country music to hard rock has affected 'NSYNC. "As for influences, I like Garth Brooks," Lance, 18, says of the famed country crooner. "He's ab incredible singer. I love his ballads and stuff. And then on the other end of the spectrum, I like Offspring."
As for JC, his peferences lean away from the harsh sounds of bands like Offspring and more toward mellow tunes. "People like Sting, and Seal, Stevie Wonder," 21-year old JC lists. "I don't know, I just love a good song and those people are pretty reliable."
Apparently, soulful singer Stevie Wonder has made a major impression on 'NSYNC, "Oh, man, he's a brilliant musician," the baby of the bunch, 17-year old Justin, raves of his main inspiration. "I think he's just the ambassador of soul." Aside from old-time fav Stevie, Justin adds, "I like Puff Daddy and all kinds of hip hop and R&B."
For Joey, the classic sounds of '50's and '60's doo wop and a capella music have had the greatest impact on his musical taste. "I like all types of music. I mean, I can also listen to No Doubt," the 21-year old clarifies. "I mean, one minute I can be listeing to '50's doo wop and the next minute listening to to R&B or alternative."
As whole, Chris concludes, bands with vocal harmany, like Boys 2 Men, have had the greatest influence on 'NSYNC. However, he adds, their list of favs keeps growing as 'NSYNC hits the road to promote their own tunes. "The musicians that we've met, we've really hit it off with completely,"Chris,26,says. Adds Lance, "No Mercy, we're best friends with. And 98 degrees."
In fact, in the process of meeting some of these new bands while touring around the world, they realized what a small world it really is. "We actually hit it off really good with 98 degrees," Chris continues. "They're actually really cool guys. It's funny because they were on the Smash Hits tour in the U.K with us...and in the process of talking to them, somehow or other it got to the topic where we went to school, and I found out I attended middle school with one of the guys!"
Coincidence or fate? Just another thing to ponder while listening to the radio.

'NSYNC:
Romancing the Radio Waves

They rant endlessly about love and relationships on their 1998 self-titled debut C.D, but are these five guys from Orlando, Florida as well-versed in romance as their songs "I Want You Back" and "Tearin up My Heart" suggest they are?

When Chris Kirkpactrick, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake of 'NSYNC recently spent time with us writers from BB, we had the oppotunity to size them up and down for you readers by prodding then with just about every question knowen to man(and women). While many of our Q's went something along the lines of "Who's your favorite masician?" "What's your goal in life?" and "What do you think of the situation in the Middle East?"(just kidding about that one!), we made sure that none of them left without giving us the lowndown on girls: What do they think of them, what they don't think of them, and most importanly, what are they thinking about when they think of them. In doing so, we were able to expose each guy's romantic side in a way that even their songs can't convey.
Upon discussing his potential for being the romantic-type, Lance admits that he tries to be a Romeo. "I haven't had much practice lately", the 19-year-old sighs,"but I like to be." Good honest answer, considering that these guys haven't stayed settled in any one city long enough in the last couple of years to have a meaningful relationship-let alone even dream about one.
However, when this bleached-blonde does get the rare opportunity to date, he has no problem letting his romantic side shine through. "On my dates, I like to do different things. I hate doing the same things over and over," Lance explains. "I like picincs, going to the beach, kind of like adventurous stuff, like rock climbing and hiking."
Just where does Lance's zest for keeping a girl on her toes come from? "I have this old-fashoined traditional side in me because I'm from Mississippi," he continues. "that's how my parents rasised me. So I feel really bad if I don't open a door for someone or, you know, just being polite-I have to. It just comes out of me. I can't not do it."
Well, although opening doors is something Lance can NOT do, making sure a girl is seated before he is definitly something that Joey WON'T do. "Open your eyes, yes, but I don't pull out the chair," the headstrong 21-year-old says. Why in the world not? "It's weird because now it's the 90's and a lot of women are liberal and they want to do things on their own," he reasons. "But there are a lot of women out there who are old-fashioned. I'm all for whatever way they feel."
Joey also admits that being romantic doesn't necessarily come easily to him. "It just depends on the mood, I guess," he says of the stirring up the Romeo in him. Considering that he never fails to make girls swoon each time they hear him sing his heart out in "I Want You Back," Joey must be in a good mood quite often.
As for JC, this 21-year old admits that he has a penchant for playing Casanova. "I guess [I am]to a certian extent, but I'm not quite a flowers-and-candy guy. But the only reason I'm not like that is I don't think it's as original. I'll do it, but I always feel a little funny about it."
JC also explains that he doesn't think spending megabucks on a girl just to grab her attention deserves the definition on romance either. "I'm not Mr.Romeo who takes girls on yacht cruises and flies them on airplanes to go here and there and [goes], 'Hey Baby,'" he says, but, you know, just little things." After all, the old adage "it's the little things in life that count" wouldn't exist if they weren't true.
And 17-year old Justin knows all about the effect of the "little things." "It's seeing it. I totally understand that saying about women being from Venus and men are from Mars. I totally understand that," he says. "I think that women don't think guys are as soft as they are. Women are always seen as being softer than guys, but, [we] are a lot softer than they are."
And at last, but not least, there's Chris, who admits that although he hasn't had much experience in the romance department for quite some time, he's no dead fish. "If I'm serious about a girl, which is rare," Chris admits, "I am definitely romantic, but I haven't had a girlfriend for like two years."
Not being able to really explore his romantic side lately has been kind of a bummer for Chris, but being out of the loop of love hasn't damaged his opinion on the sexes one bit. " I was raised by my mom and four sisters," the 26-year old says. "So I grew up thinking that women are right, men are wrong, the end."
When it comes to making music that reflects their veiws on romance and relationships, it's obvious these heartthrobs really are in sync-in every sense of the world!
