Casualties Info
The Casualties, are N.Y.C's Oi Punx. They have been playing in the area, for about as far back as I can remember. The band
started in the the late 1980's, out of high school. The origional band consisted of 2 lead singers, a guitarist, a bassist, and a
drummer. That Lineup:
Jorge & Colin-Vocals
Fred-Guitar
Mark-Bass
Yuresh-Drums
Jorge has been with the band since the very begining, and is the only origional member in the band to date. Also, Jorge's
girlfriend at the time, Rachel, also played an important part in the band. She sang a little time to time, and later she sang the intro
on "For The Punx".
As the band started, there very first recorded song, "Political Sin", appeared on a local NYC based compliation. This caused a
few people to become interested in the band, therefore the bands demand became larger.
As 1993 approached, The Casualties released there first 7" EP,"40oz. Casualties". (now out of print and will not be sold
again). This record included songs;"The Oi Song", "Bored and Glued", "Punk Rock Love", "Destruction & Hate", "40 oz
Casualty", and "Ugly Bastards". It was available with several sleeves. One was the well known drawing of the punk and the
fire-hydrant,the other was the 3 band members in a room drinking(rare),and supposably there was another with the band
drinking in a city dumpster, but i have never seen that one.
As everything was going great, it all came down as the band broke up in around 93-94. All the origional members left, except
lead singer Jorge. Where are the origional members,as far as i know there still around. Within a period of time, a new
generation of Casualties came about. As the band came back, a whole new line-up of members excisted. The line-up went as
followed:
Jorge-Vocals
Jake-Guitar
Mike-Bass
Shawn-Drums
It was with this lineup the Casualties launched the first tour with the Varukers. With the new members, the band put out a
second seven inch. The record was titled, "A Fuckin Way Of Life". They released on Eyeball records, in 1995. This attracted
many listeners, mostly throughout the NY/NJ area. They played with other local bands such as Dysfunctional Youth, Banner of
Hope, Unseen, Blanks 77,Krays, ect. They also have gotten the privalage to play with bands such as, Braindance, Oxymoron,
UK Subs,Chaos UK,Funeral Dress, and Played at the "Holidays In The Sun Festival"(a 3 day event to celebrate punk rock,
included such acts as 999,Slaughter and The Dogs,Drones,GBH,External Menace,Sham69, and many more bands).
A while after the release of their second seven inch, The Casualties dropped their drummer Shawn. They recruited a new
drummer named Meggers to take his place.
It was now that the Casualties were to for a major release. For this release the band signed to Tribal War Records. Then in
early 1997, Tribal War announced that The Casualties would be putting out a full length album, it was called, "For The Punx".
For this release the Casualties put on a record relase show Febuary 8th, 1997, at Coney Island High. At this show there was
200 copies of the album to be sold for $3, these records, were not made correctly, and might be worth something one day.
Soon after the CD became available to stores, and was consumed by all the kids. The album features remastered trax such as,
"For The Punx", "Ugly Bastards", the lovely anthem "Punk Rock Love", "2-Faced", and many more. There is also a song sung
in latin, for all the latino PunX. That song is called "Chaos Punx".
At this time the Casualties launched there second tour with the Varukers. The tour started in late March of '97', and ended
some time in early May. A second tour over the summer of '97 took the Casualties all over the US, and briefly in the UK.
As 1998 approached, Jake put out a record comp on his new label "Charged Records". Charged records will be the home to
the casualties and other bands within time.
Casualties recruited Jon of the Krays to replace old bassist Mike. With a replenished line-up, the Casualties started recording
for a new LP, "Underground Army". The songs scedualed to be featured on it are older songs that never were released. Such
as, Kill Everyone,Drinking is My Way Of Life, and other newer ones. It is planned to be released in July on Charged Records.
Touring wise, Casualties have planned a tour of Japan in the Summer, and probally a brief one in the US later on in the year.
