GRINSPOON REVIEW
COMPETITION
During March-April 2000
I asked people to send in reviews of Grinspoon's Easy album, along
with anything else... The winning entry came from 'J Freak' - see
review. Runner up included 'Nightwatchmen'. Thanks heaps to everybody
who sent in reviews! All winners receive a signed Grinspoon Easy
CD sleave.
1999 HOTTEST 100
GUESSING COMPETITION (Dec 99-Jan 2000)
Towards the end of 1999 I organised
the biggest competition to date! I received about 60-70 CDs and
other prizes from a heap of fantastic aussie bands (see thanks
page). We received a whopping 500 entries into the competition
over the few weeks it was open!
In the end we had some pretty good
guessers - here's the winners that will go down in this hall of
fame :-) - they all received a nice selection of aussie CDs!

SEXY / GOSSIP
COMPETITION (June-July 99)
In June-July 1999 I asked everyone
to fill out a survey / competition. There were several parts to
the entry form: who you thought the sexiest person on triple j was,
what your favourite CD of all time was, and everyone was also asked
to get creative and write their best triple j related true story
or gossip. The sexiest j-people, and favourite CD results are shown
below on the left, and a couple of the best entries on the right.
Sexiest male J-people (in order)
- The Sandman
- Robbie Buck
- Merrick Watts
- Adam Spencer
- Richard Kingsmill
- Michael Tunn
- Justin Wilcomes
- Roy / HG
- Sharif Galal
- Rosso
- Dr Karl
- Francis Leach
Sexiest
female J-people (in order)
- Rosie Beaton
- Sarah MacDonald
- Jane Gazzo
- Caroline Tran
- Karen Barlow
- Sara Lando
Best CDs

- Jebediah - Slightly
Odway
- The Living End (self titled)
- Jeff Buckley - Grace
- The Whitlams - Eternal Nightcap
- Radiohead - OK Computer
- Grinspoon - Guide to Better
Living
- Custard - Loverama
- Live - Throwing Copper
- The Whitlams - Undeniably
the Whitlams

Sharks
The thing that surprised me was
the range of CDs - only a small percentage of the votes were
the same in this category - about a hundred other CDs were mentioned
as favourites by just one or two people. |
"Adam
Spencer broke my mobile phone!!!!! The Breakfast show
was doing a show at the University of Queensland and Adam Spencer,
in his infinite wisdom, decided to put into practice his newly
acquired stage diving skills. Adam, who it must be noted is
not a thin man, leapt of the stage and for a second or two hung
in the air. He then dropped with a loud thud, crushing two small
girls and my mobile phone which was in my bag on the ground.
The phone has never been the same since. Strangely enough, the
phone can now only ring one number. That of Domino's Pizza.
Kate
ps I saw the Sandman's penis as well. (although everyone
has seen his penis)"

The lucky random prize
winners were: Felicity Watson (Grafton NSW), Emily Gilmour (Mt Helena
WA), and Matthew Mahony (Hobart).
All the winners received a combination of triple j t-shirts, hats,
and CDs, as well as some triple j stickers.
Most importantly, I'd
like to give an ENORMOUS THANKYOU to all
the fantastic people who have sponsored these competitions by sending
in prizes including CDs and other stuff for me to send out to the
winners. :-)
