You have reached the website of David Fitzjarrell, self-proclaimed guitar nut and local Tulsa musician. This page is under construction, so please bear with me while I tinker, hammer and adjust my home for the best possible reception. Topics for this page include, but are not limited to:

Basic guitar maintenance Guitar tablature Artist information

If there are any other topics you would like to see covered feel free to let me know -- I will be more than happy to oblige, if I can.

A website for guitar "freaks" everywhere!!!!

YOU ARE "GUITAR FREAK"

Let me say a little about myself -- I "hit" 42 this year (actualy, it "hit" ME!!! ), and have been playing guitar for 33 years (now, THAT makes me feel OLD!!!!!!!! ). I play both acoustic and electric, and my "arsenal" includes a PRS CE-22,

a Seagull S6-CW (wild cherry, cedar top, LR Baggs pickup system)

and a Taylor LKSM Leo Kottke 12-string. I used to perform in coffee houses and cafes in Tulsa, but this Y2K thing and a SERIOUS lack of publicity from the venues I would work caused me to stop playing for a while. I plan on getting back into the swing of things and resume playing after the Y2K projects wind down (I am also an Oracle database administrator and that is what pays the bills). I play a mixture of original compositions and OPS (Other Peoples Stuff), and have a soft spot in my heart (and, some say, my head) for Leo Kottke, Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, SRV, Eric Johnson and BB King, among others. The gigs I play are acoustic, so I mostly play the 6 and 12 string guitars. I am looking to do some electric work, so don't count me out on that instrument just yet!!!!!

I STILL plan on providing some basic maintenance tips and techniques for both acoustic and electric players, as well as some tips on my playing style -- what I do, and, if anyone is interested, how I do it, but it isn't as easy to find the time to work on this site as it was when this site was created.

What I do -- I mostly play fingerstyle, which means I don't use picks of any sort (some do, you know!!!) I like to play older material, like the Mills Brothers and some of the older classics, but I can also whip out the newer stuff as well!!! (I know that to some of you "older material" would be KISS covers, which would make the Beatles and the older Rolling Stones stuff ANCIENT, but I'm talking about songs from the 30's and 40's -- REAL ANCIENT HISTORY!!!!) As I said, I also write my own songs, and perform them whenever I play a gig. I've listed my primary influences (not to be confused with influenza) above.

My sense of humor is somewhat bizarre, to say the least, but at least I have one -- I got it at WalMart, on clearance. Don't ask me to return it -- I don't have the receipt.

Many of you may wonder what I look like -- in light of recent legislation prohibiting cruel and unusual punishment it is a Federal offense to show you my countenance. (Actually, I don't have a recent photo of me available for publication. My wife says you should consider yourselves lucky.) In lieu of my ugly puss, I shall give you something better to look at --

Paul Reed Smith -- one of my favorite people

Leo Kottke -- my favorite guitarist

Seeing as this is a music website, I thought it only fitting that music be available. Check out CDnow for the albums and artists that "float your boat" ... use the link and search engine below:

On to other things -- the links you see below are some of the areas I find either useful or entertaining. Some I find usefully entertaining, others entertainingly useful. Whatever.

So, if you have any questions or comments, e-mail me at dfitz@webzone.net or at sdfitz@mindless.com . However, since it is now a FEDERAL REQUIREMENT that EVERYONE visiting a webpage SIGN THE GUESTBOOK, ask me questions and leave me comments in mine, and I'll try to include what you want, within reason. I'll try to read each and every comment and question I receive. Actually, I have three munchkins and a toad that read my e-mail; I just get the translations and try to do the best I can from those (I read my guestbook myself). So, if I didn't get your request or comment correct, and you e-mailed it ------- DON'T BLAME ME!!!!!!!
