"Hey Silverchair! Can you hear us?! Turn it down man!" E was joking, but indeed Silverchair was playing so loud, you could hear them when Eels wasn't playing. Although both E and Tommy told us they didn't want to do Pinkpop, this was a really special show. E started solo, making some guitar noise for about 2 minutes. Then the rest of the band came on and the guitar jam evolved into NOT READY YET in an extremely extended version! The song lasted for more than 12 minutes! AWESOME! Later in a TV interview E told that this was the first time they did this cool version of the song and that they also did not know where the song was going while playing it! It takes a lot of guts trying to do this in front of such a big crowd!

it's a good day to ROCK The set continued with LIVIN' LIFE and although the band really looked tired, they played one hell of a set! Later the show was called one of the highlights of the festival in all the papers and on radio and TV. The extended version of RAGS TO RAGS had some Purple Rain (by Prince) in it through E's guitar amp and it featured a long drumsolo by Butch. Then after a beautiful rendition of A MOST UNPLEASANT MAN the show was over. The band was allowed to play for another 5 minutes, but they left the stage and did not come back. In the TV broadcast E can be seen saying: "THERE WILL BE NO MORE ROCK TODAY!"

TV: 20 minutes of their set was broadcast on dutch (VPRO/VARA) television + a 10 minute interview with E. Also an interview + live clips were shown on TMF @lter 8.
radio: 15 minutes of their set was broadcast on dutch radio.
bootleg: two complete bootleg tapes of the show exists (audience recordings).
