THERAPY?
16 april 1998 - Amsterdam, Melkweg

After a long silence of almost 3 years, Thereapy? returned to Holland with a sold out show at the Melkweg. Although the show was rather short it was probably the best one I saw so far in 1998. From the first notes of Potatoe Junkie the crowd went nuts and that energy showed off on the band. Although Andy Cairns and Michael McKeegan always seem to be in good spirit on the stage, this show saw them even in greater spirits! New members Graham Hopkins (drums) and Martin McCarrick (cello/ guitar) were also given a great welcome by the fans, who in their enthousiasm almost nocked down the mixing desk.

The setlist for this show was: Potatoe Junkie/ Knives/ Tightrope Walker/ Die Laughing/ Disgracelands/ Stories/ born To Soon/ Teethgrinder/ Lonely cryin' Only/ Church Of Noise/ Isolation/ Diane/ Screamager/ Come On Come On......

Near the end, the stage got conquered by the fans and there was almost no room for the rest of the band. Andy then jumped into the audience and they carried him all the way to the back of the venue, where he climbed up the balcony and received a huge cheer from the crowd. By then the show was over and a techno version of the Pennywise classic Bro Hymn was played. The show lasted only about an hour, but the people who witnessed it were all lucky to have seen a show that will be talked about for years.
