I hope you're having a great time. Hopefully, by the end of this year we'll have finished a new record. We're going to start recording in June. Martin's written some great songs already, and I just wanted to say Hi. And we'll see you all again next year, when hopefully we'll be out on the road. All right. See you, Bye"

He realised most fans want a continuation of the classic Front sound in songs like "Headhunter".
As recently Shirley Manson said, the band officially began writing for their next studio album!!!! There're some intentions of finishing work on the B-sides and Rare Remix collection Garbage talked for a while in past days but now this project is already cancelled for brand new album.

The band also had meetings with Jonathan Kessler and Daniel Miller to discuss, among other things, the direction of the new album.

The Million Dollar Hotel is a new film penned by Bono (with screenwriter Nicholas Klien), and is directed by German cult art-house master Wim Wenders. It stars Jeremy Davies, Milla Jovovich and Mel Gibson. Premier was at the Berlin Film Festival in early Feburary. The soundtrack is available to buy since March 14, 2000. ( Buy it at Amazon.com )
01. | The Ground Beneath her Feet | U2 |
02. | Never Let Me Go | Bono and the Million Dollar Hotel Band |
03. | Stateless | U2 |
04. | Satellite of Love | Milla Jovovich, the MDH Band and Chris Spedding |
05. | Falling at Your Feet | Bono and Lanois |
06. | Tom Tom's Dream | the MDH Band |
07. | The First Time | U2 (from U2's 1993 album, Zooropa) |
08. | Bathtub | the MDH Band |
09. | The First Time (Reprise) | Lanois and the MDH Band |
10. | Tom Tom's Room | Brad Mehldau with Frisell |
11. | Funny Face | the MDH Band |
12. | Dancin' Shoes | Bono and the MDH Band |
13. | Amsterdam Blue | Hassell, Gregg Arreguin, Jamie Muhoberac and Peter Freeman |
14. | Satellite of Love (Reprise) | the MDH Band, featuring Lanois, Frisell and Cohen |
15. | Satellite of Love (Danny Saber remix) | Jovovich with the MDH Band and Spedding |
16. | Anarchy in the USA | Tito Larriva and the MDH Band and Larry Mullen, Adam Clayton and Spedding |
The Million Dollar Hotel Band (MDH Band) features Bono (vocals, guitar, piano), Daniel Lanois (guitars, vocals, pedal steel), Brian Eno (synthesisers), Jon Hassell (trumpet), Greg Cohen (bass), Brian Blade (drums), Adam Dorn (beats / synth / programming), and Bill Frisell (guitar).
The result, according to PopScene, is a strong set of songs that is, perhaps unsurprisingly, more moody Passengers than U2. The Ground Beneath Her Feet is only real U2-ish new one, but this side-project may well allow U2 a different creative outlet while the more rocking new album takes shape.
It's been described by Bono as 'madly great', 'classic' and U2's 'greatest record yet'. There are currently about 25 songs written, of which 12 will make it to the album. The still-unnamed new album from U2 will feature the following new songs:
01. | Kite |
02. | In a Little While |
03. | Bulldozer |
04. | The Sun, the Moon and the Stars |
05. | Stuck in a Moment You Can't get Out Of |
06. | Origin of Species |
07. | Elevation |
08. | to be continued... |
While little is known about the new album, the reports state that is will be a simple, r aw and soulful record. U2 have dropped the technology, and have kept it sounding like a rock and roll band. Producers Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno are producing the record, their fifth effort. Bono wants it to sound 'live', and he has commented that it sounds like a Beatles record, in that 'every song feels like a single'. U2 began recording the new album after the PopMart tour finished in March 1998. The band were already working on new songs at the time of the tour.
The new album is expected to be released September-October 2000.
All U2 fans believes that the new album will return to the atmospheric rock of The Unforgettable Fire, and from Bono's claims it sounds like the songs will work well live. But considering the sounds from the Million Dollar Hotel, one would expect the new album to be significantly different from their more recent work. Everyone suggests previous songs North and South of the River, Your Blue Room, and Bono and Michael Hutchence's duet Slide Away, as indications of U2's new direction. But really, knowing U2, you can't ever expect anything really, can you?
The video clip from the new And One single Wasted has been rejected by among others German music channel Viva. Details are unknown yet, possibly 'cos some forbidden content.
The Singles 86>98 in DVD format (Cat. No. DVDMUTEL5) will be released on March 6th.
It will be packaged in a durable plastic case, and feature HQ picture & sound, and easy to use menu options. Content will be the same as the video release.
Technical Notes
The DVD is zoned for all regions, PAL format, and has no "lock zone".
The first new Front 242 show in Brussels was completely sold out and has a fantastic success. The band have been invited to Mexico for gigs, among others the Mexico City Union Feast Rave on March 18. Kraftwerk, Sven Vath, Talla 2XLC and Carl Cox will also perform.
The new album from Cyber-Tec, Cut appeared in shops on February 28. Among the participants are Jean-Luc De Meyer, Julian Beeston and Mark Heal (Cubanate). The album features modern EBM with everything from ballads to dance tracks.
The Cure is set up their DREAM TOUR in support their new album. Check cities & venues for updates!
There it is, that familiar sound. A voice both pinched and distended, that never sings so much as yelps, sticking the words with voodoo pins before every bleated enunciation. There's the distressed guitar, squirming in tense arpeggios over an undertow of spiralling keyboards...
The 9 tracks were recorded in London and Surrey, England, and co-produced by Smith and Paul Korkett.

It has been in the works for quite some time now, but the final product is about to be released sometime soon. As reported on the official Recoil site, the new Recoil L.P. will be entitled "Liquid" and has been set for release in mid-February 2000. A single (title to be confirmed) will precede the L.P. on or around January 31st. These dates are still somewhat tentative and always subject to change. All formats are yet to be finalised but the possiblity of an enhanced CD to include Recoil videos is currently being researched. 'Liquid', written and produced by Alan with additional production and sound design by PK, features nine new tracks and vocal contributions from fellow Mute artist Diamanda Galas, New York performers Nicole Blackman and Samantha Coerbell, gospel singers The Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet and Recoil fan and poet, Rosa M.Torras.
Extra musicians include Curve's Dean Garcia (additional bass) and Steven Monty (drum sources), Merlin Rhys-Jones (guitar sources) from Ian Dury's Blockheads and Hepzibah Sessa (violin, backing vocals). As with 'Unsound Methods', the design company Intro has been commissioned to co-ordinate the visuals and discussions are already underway in this department.
The official Recoil site has announced that Alan Wilder has completely finished mixing and mastering the album, which is due for release in early 2000. According to the page there are 5 all-new separate vocal collaborations, one or two guest musicians and some extra tracks included in the album. The extra tracks are "destined to come your way as a forerunner to the album itself." Alan confirmed this by saying that "a little taster of the album will (hopefully) be released before the Millennium rush - an MP3 perhaps." A few artist names thrown around on the official Shunt and Bong mailinglists are David Gilmore, Diamanda Galas and even David Gahan, although this last option is no option according to Alan Wilder.
