You always hurt the one you love

TAPIR001

Out Now

The bands first comercial release on Parakanormal Recordings. The record includes a reworking of "Elephant Liberation" and the all new summer classic "Lez Lez Lez". A new version of "Working for the elephant" opens what is perhaps the bands most complete work to date.

Tapes:

You keep the moon in your car on Wednesday

The band's first outing produced a stong album including the underground hit "Y'Mother".This session also gave birth to "Elephant Liberation" which appears on the 7" "You always hurt the one you love". Other notable songs include "Elephant Theatre" and "Call a Plumber Harold"

The other services which waitresses perform

This tape includes the band's first steps into synth/guitar pop with songs like "Peel and Lamac" and "facial hair would make you look gay" paving the way for later songs like "Lez Lez Lez". This album also includes the sample driven synth song "Calling Her" this features a guest vocal delicately sang by their dear friend Kelly.

Strange is the world of....

This 9 track tape hosts the band's most "Kinky Cinema" songs to date. Again this album uses the now tried and tested synth/guitar formula. The title track itself is a kraftwerk-esque epic featuring the band's only ever attempt at wah guitar. The most notable song is the then titled "New Novation"/"Working for the Elephant". The tape also boasts remixed versions of "Working for the Elephant" and Peadophillic Streak" these are mixed by D.J Full-On.

Mirror Images 2/ The Hobby Craft Porn Film E.P

This E.P was recorded in the same studio as the first Album, so the sound is similar. This is a lesser known recording but still remains one of the best. The record is more guitar based than "Strange is the world" which makes this all the more sought after. The opening track "The Stance of...." is almost an ode to the band "Grandaddy" with a guitar/synth effect giving rise to the bands most innovative work to date. This album also gave us "Huw is a Pimp" the final song on the 7".

".... I want to make you .....".

(Full Title on request)

This record documents the holiday music by the band. It is perhaps their best work to date. Every song on it is an anthem in itself. Songs like "Billie" and "Erotic Tease" have enjoyed massive underground success, described by one journalist as "Power Pop classics". The album does take on a more sinister tone with the "Mogwai" style epic "Walk the dogs" this graphic protrayal of young love is done in a way only The Elephant know how to do. Also included on this album is the disco/funk song "Get Funky" which can't help but set the disco on fire. This album is an all time classic, a must have!

"Take your hand off my bum"

Recorded in early autum of 1998, this album documents the bands most accessible songs to date. The songs on this record are not disilmilar to those of Joy Division and New Order. That fact makes the album all the more appealling. The title track is a delicate pop ballad with gentle progressions from major to minor chords. The entire record was remixed by DJ Full-on but never made available.

"Your back to get her"

Only 4 tacks make up this little known E.P. The sound is fairly flat compared other releases, but the quality of the songs is as high as ever. Half of the songs on "Your back to get her" are played live by the band, this is where they shine. The simple make up of the songs pays off well on the stage. This tape feature the post summer chart romp "I love the sun".

"..... I want to have your children"

This tape by The Welsh Elephant contains some of their best and most catchy music of recent times. The songs "Boyz Boyz Boyz" and "Dodgy Glam Track" have a distinct glam feel to them, with twin vocals lifting the sound to a higher level. The album takes on an acoustic edge with the ballad "The day today" proving the bands versatility in the studio. The album ends on two classic Elephant thrash songs "New year at Ollies" and "Captain"- a cover of the "IdleWild" song.

"The Crazy Life"

The Bands latest cassette release features the self titled summer power pop classic as well as some more laid back tracks that some say..."Sounds just like Blur!" Songs like "Kuwarla Sharker" and "All About The Kosovans" stand to show the bands varied styles. The comedy is not lost on this E.P with the song "Were The Happy Monday." showing the band have not lost tuch with their roots. The E.P ends on another Mogwai style song this time using samples and an electric beat to give a more "Finished" sound to the track.
