HOW WAS IT?

1998

JULY 9—FANatic was terrific! Nick was SO cute. He wore a yellow Polo sweater with a navy blue stripe on the top. He wore a white t-shirt under the sweater, and had dark blue jeans that were rolled up. He cut his hair, so now it's about a 1/2 inch or maybe an inch under his ear.

JULY 11—What happened to the Disney In Concert? They didn't show it!

JULY 17—The View. Hmmm … in my opinion, the commercial was better! I don't know what you guys think, but I think Nick was either sick or very unhappy. Something was bothering him. Anyway, they started off the program with As Long As You Love Me, then they answered some questions. Nick was wearing a black sweater, black pants, a white t-shirt under the sweater, his anchor necklace, and black shoes. Star Jones asked Nick what his dream date would be, and Nick said something like, “Well, I've been asked this question a couple times before. I'm a big lover of the ocean, (holds up his necklace)(fans start screaming)(Nick holds up his hand) wait. Just let me get this out. After we spend, you know, the day together doing whatever, then I'd take her, or whoever that person is, out to the beach when the moon is out, and the waves are calm, and then we can watch the stars. Cause I live, I live in a small town right now, and I live very close to the ocean.” Then someone asks him if he goes for co-ed sleepovers. Nick laughs and says, “Not right now. No.” Then later there's this little girl who had just got surgery from cancer, and Nick kisses her, and says, “You know, I have a surprise for you.” And he takes out this black autographed Backstreet Boys t-shirt. “Ta da da da!” Then when they sing I'll Never Break Your Heart, they each go up to one of the members in the audience, Nick goes up to this eight or nine year old girl and holds her hand. How sweet! His hair was somewhat wet looking, it was tousled looking. He didn't look so hot. His eyes weren't as playful and sparkly as usual. His voice might be changing—I don't know. Well, anyway, cool show!

JULY 19—Countdown on MTV, well, it was okay, I guess. Nick was wearing a white t-shirt with black pants and white sneakers. He had on some necklace (I don't remember which one) and he was also wearing a green sailor's hat. And once in a while, he put on his blue shirt. In other words, he was cute. Um, there isn't much to say about what he said. I mean, they had these little in-between discussions (between the videos). I got to see their tour bus! Man, it's huge! It's really comfy looking and stuff.

JULY 24—ABC Disney in Concert? Personally, I thought it sucked. If anybody has the enhanced CD, it was almost the same as the thing where Nick and Brian sing Anywhere For You. He had a white shirt and dark blue jeans and his hair was combed over his forehead. (Wasn't that like 2 years ago?) They sang Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart). There was one part and Nick looked SO cute! He was sitting at the edge of the stage with his legs dangling off the side. He was swinging them around. These girls were trying to grab him but they couldn't get over the fence or whatever they had put up. HA!

AUGUST 11—Leno was OK. Everytime he said “Backstreet Boys,” these girls started screaming. They sang I'll Never Break Your Heart. They were all wearing black outfits. Nick had a black suit. His hair was kinda slicked back to the side. Leno asked who was the prankster. Nick said he was and that he used to buy stuff at Spencer's. Then Howie said that once he gave Nick hot peppers (as retaliation) and he had red sploches over his face. That's SO mean! Then they cut Nick off right when he was about to shake Jay's hand!

AUGUST 15—The football game was cool. 49ers beat the Seahawks! Sorry if you're a Seahawk fan. Anyway, during halftime, they showed a clip of them singing I'll Never Break Your Heart. (What else is new?) They were sitting in director's chairs. Nick looked OK. He was wearing a red football jersey with the number 8 on it. I'm not sure which team. He had khaki shorts and sandals. His hair was parted in the middle and it was about an inch above his ear. It kinda looked like the ‘Nick and AJ’ pic in our Group Pictures page. If you wanna see the pic, click here.

AUGUST 30—Oh my god! The Arthur Ashe Kids' Day thing was GREAT! He was SOOOOO cute! He looked almost as good as he did on FANatic! He was wearing a gray longsleeved shirt that said US OPEN on it, and he had on khakis and a pair of black and white sneakers. They sang As Long As You Love Me as well as I'll Never Break Your Heart and another version of All I Have To Give, and then Brian and Kevin acted as the ball boys. They caught the balls. Wonder what Nick was doing … playing Nintendo?

SEPTEMBER 2—Who saw Regis and Kathie Lee? I think just about everyone did! Anyway, Nick looked really tired. In the beginning, they showed them in the greenroom, where Nick was without socks. Howie (the dirty ole thing) pushed Nick's foot into the camera! Then Brian got socks from Regis for them. Nick stalked slowly, then ran out and picked up his socks. He had pulled one on, then they went back to the greenroom. Later, when they officially came out, they talked a bit. Nick talked about his high school diploma and his pet peeve. (He pointed at Howie!) Let's see … oh my god! How could we forget—what he was wearing! They were all wearing black suits and black pants. Two of them (namely AJ and Brian) had WHITE socks, while the rest were wearing Regis' black socks. Nick's pants looked a little short on him! Then they were asked if they were single. Ha ha! Nick is perfectly single, while on the other hand, his best pal Brian and AJ are seeing people! Then they sang I'll Never Break Your Heart (as usual) and a song that's supposed to be on their new CD called Who Do You Love? As far as we can tell, Nick has no solo in that song! That was it …

SEPTEMBER 10—The MTV Music Video Awards … uh, it was bad. Nick had on like a brown and green striped long shirt and some brownish pants. They did this little (funny) skit in the beginning. They sang Everybody, of course, and it was not very good. The girls with the feathers … uh …

OCTOBER 17—Okay … I'm very upset cuz no one told me—or no one had it up anywhere—that they were going to be on The Big Help. But they're always on it … no one told me that the Big Help was anytime soon! Whatever, but I saw like a minute of it, and Howie wasn't there. Nick was wearing a white muscle tank with a white fisherman hat. I don't know what pants he was wearing though … they harmonized something, and Kev said they were sorry they couldn't make it. And that's that.

OCTOBER 22—The Total Request was okay. Nick was sick, so he was back in Ruskin. But he DID call in … which is good … he had a really scuffed up nasal sound, which is cute, and he basically said that he loved the fans, was watching Total Request, and was “under the weather.” It was cute. The rest of the BSBs answered some of Carson's questions and sang I'll Never Break Your Heart. That was about it.

OCTOBER 29—We heard from those of you fans out there who DID see it that Nick was indeed on, and he talked about fans picking grass off his lawn. They sang I'll Never Break Your Heart and that was about it.

NOVEMBER 19—Nick and Jane on Total Request—ew. I did not like it. Nick wore a blue and yellow Fubu jersey along with yellow sweatpants (I think). His hair was choppy and stringy and he looked like he had a really bad attitude. But then I think I would look like I had a really bad attitude if I were sitting next to Puff Daddy, so … But they showed a lot of pictures of Nick as a baby (some that he said he never knew existed). What did Jane do to her hair?! Apparently, not something good. Her hair was black. Maybe she wasn't having all the fun (you know—they say blonds have all the fun …). Whatever.

1999

FEBRUARY 6- Ok. For those of you who didn't catch the PPV concert, it was ok. Nick was really cute while performing That's The Way I Like It and Hey Mr. DJ. They all wore jerseys and such. He poured water over his hair. Then they changed into suits, so he wasn't as cute. He performed Heaven In Your Eyes, and he gave the most elaborate perfomance of the word 'eyes' ever! It was cool - go out and get it on tape if you didn't see it!

MAY 12-Uhhhh ... Wahhhhhh. Even though Nick was incredibly, incredibly cute, handsome, HOT even, I found out that Nick has a girlfriend. I must say, though, his ego seemed to have increased. And, he seems a lot more carefree and happy - he yawned, picked at his ear, and did something else I can't put my finger on. But, he was really, really, really cute. He's just not avaliable anymore.

MAY 16-That was the most fun I've ever had watching a tv show with the Backstreet Boys on. They played trivia, and Howie didn't even know which year Nick was born in!!! But one point of jealousy - when Nick got that girl - she sat next to him!!! I'll bet half of the girls didn't get the guy they wanted. I'm sure that Erica liked Kevin and JoAnni or whatever the name of the girl that was Nick's partner likes AJ or Howie. Or maybe Brian. It was so cute - if you haven't seen it, you must.

JULY 10-The concert in itself was okay. It wasn't all that great, but it was okay. It actually was kinda boring come to think of it. Disney should've given them at least an extra half an hour ... considering they're the biggest pop sensation worldwide and that they are the BACKSTREET BOYS. They had about half the songs from the first album and the other half from Millennium. And Nick took part in The Perfect Fan!!! He sang only one part though. It was the part when each boy sings something like "Mom you always were ...". And Nick had his hair braided (not in the concert, though). They went bowling, Nick and Brian played b-ball in one of the most famous little parks in NYC (I've been there before ... actually, the last time I went, it was because we stopped along the way to J&R where I purchased the Limited Edition Singles Set from the Backstreet Boys!!!). Howie and AJ went shopping at some boutiques ... or maybe in NYC you call them thrift shops, and Kevin went horseback riding through Central Park. Ahhhh ... the life of a Backstreet Boy. Watch this on Disney. Not for the concert, but for the behind-the-scenes look into the wonderful life of a Backstreet Boy.

SEPTEMBER 9-Dang, the boys sucked on the MTV Video Music Awards!!! I'm sure we all have different opinions, but knowing that this a page of reviews in my opinion, you're willing to listen to what I have to say. Nick - he looked as if he hadn't taken a shower for a week!!! Cut that hair, man. And no headbanging, please ... it looks really bad, especially what you were wearing. What all of them were wearing ... except for Brian. AJ - please don't steal anymore of Britney's bras. PLEASE. And the singing. Can anyone be more off key? I don't think Britney could even if she wasn't lip synching. I believe that this will bring on the end of the Backstreet Boys as we know it. I definitely liked Britney and *N Sync's performance much more. I'm not so sure I like the Backstreet Boys as much anymore. We'll just have to see. Oh, by the way, Nick was the only Boy who didn't have a Girl(friend with him).

DECEMBER 8-Wow. What a difference. Nick was HOT here. They did this lil skit with that girl ... I forget her name ... she has red hair. Hmmm ... hold on a sec while I go check. Kathy Griffin. She asked pretty much all the Boys questions, naming them "Nick". When she got to Nick, she called him "JJ", and Nick started cracking up. He later sniffed her shoe!!! LoL. It was funny. If you missed this, be sure to catch the reruns on VH1!!! It's not to be missed.

2000

APRIL 18-This wasn't so bad -- for the rest of the boys. Nick was weird. But the songs were well performed. They sang "I Want it That Way" with Sting, "Show Me The Meaning" and something else (eeee I can't remember!!!!).

APRIL 28-Okay, so this wasn't on TV, but it was fun to listen to. Nick had people go to Victoria's Secret, and he prank called Britney Spears (who was with Justin Timberlake at the time).

MAY 4-Nick was acting sorta conceited. They asked him about his relationship with Mandy and his mother. He said that the strained relationship between his family and him was not due to Mandy, but to the business relationship that he and his mother maintain.
