Sam Cooke
Date of Birth:
Date of Death: December 11, 1964
Cause of Death: Gunshot wound at a motel. Apparently a female
companion who had been in Cooke's room tried to 'escape' and sought refuge
in the motel manger's residence. Cooke pursued her and was
shot dead by the motel manager as Cooke was climbing in his window, dressed
only in his boxer shorts.
Final Resting Place:
Claim to Fame: Originally a singer with the 'Soul Stirrers', Cooke went
on to have many solo hits in the late fifties and early sixties.
