Chapter 14: Suprise Visit

"Tay, whats wrong?"
"Nothing"
"You sure?"
"Yes"
"Positive?"
"AUGUST!! YES!! I TOLD YOU I'M FINE!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" he shouted at her.
"Sorry."

Tears welled up in August's eyes. She hadn't expected that reaction. "Sorry" she whispered again. "Sorry for bothering you." With that, she ran down the hall and into her room. After slamming the door, she burst into tears as she flopped down on the bed.

"Tay?! What the hell did you do that for??" asked a surprised Zac. He had witnessed the whole episode.
"She deserved it!!"
"What the heck did she do to deserve that? She was trying to be a friend because she saw that you were upset!!!"
"She doesn't like me."
"And how do you know that?!"
"Because she likes Ike"
"Where did this come from? When did you begin thinking that?! Tay!! She likes you!! She's told me and she's told Ike!! Why would she lie to both of us?"
"Zac. Didn't you see back at the mall, when they came out, didn't you see Ike holding her hand? Didn't you see that?!"
"Yea, I saw it. He grabbed her hand to get her out of the mall. You know what happened the last time we split up."
"I know, but..........I don't get it"
"You don't get what?" asked Isaac as he entered the room.

Taylor looked up at Isaac. "Would he do this to me? He's my own brother. But he's capable of it, that's for sure". He tensed up, and turned on his heal and ran up to their room without another word. Seconds later, Zac heard the door slam. The second one in the past 5 minutes.

--------------------------

RRRRIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGGG................RRRRRRIIIIIIII
"Hello?"
"Jules?" sniffed August
"August? Hey Honey!! Julie isn't here right now, I'm sorry"

It was Julie's mom.

"Well, Do you know where she is?"
"Well Hon, she's at the airport right now."
"The airport? Why?"
"She's going to visit friends for about a week. I'll tell her that you called, ok?"
"Yes, thank you."
"Ok, bye honey"
"Bye"

This confused August. Julie was always home when August needed to talk to someone. Mrs. Jones had said that she'd tell Julie that August had called. She only wished that Julie was actually there.

-----------------------------

Flight 235 to Tulsa is now boarding. Would all passengers prepare to board? Thank You.

"Well, this is it" thought Julie.

She was on her way to Tulsa to visit August. August's parents had arranged everything. They knew August, and they knew that she was missing her best friend. Julie found it amazing that they had been able to keep this a secret. Everything was arranged with the Hansons. She'd stay with them for the four days she was there, and then she would fly back home. She couldn't wait.

----------------------------

Diana looked up at the clock. 2:35 it read. Julie's flight came in at 4. She had better figure out who was going with her. Isaac? Maybe. "Actually" she thought "they'd be practicing by then." "I guess I'll have to go by myself, seeing as how I can't bring the kids to the airport. She walked toward the stairs, quietly, so not to wake Mackenzie. She reached the stairs and heard faint crying coming from August's room. She stepped off of the bottom stair and walked toward August's door. She quietly knocked on the door and waited for a response.

----------------------------

Knock....Knock.......Knock

"Who's there?" she sniffled
"August, its Diana, may I come in?"
"Yea"

Diana slowly opened the door, to reveal a teary August.

"August, honey, what happened?"
"Ttt...Tttaa....Tay"
"Tay? What did he do?"
"H..he yelled at me"
"Do you know why?"
"No. I didn't do anything. He looked mad, so I asked him what was wrong, and he yelled at me to leave him alone and go away."

With that said, August burst into another round of tears. Diana walked over to her and gave her a hug.

"Do you want me to go talk to Taylor?"

August nodded.

"Ok then."
"Thank you."
"Oh honey, don't worry about it." Diana smiled. August returned it with a weak smile.
"Diana?"
"Yes?"
"Would you mind if I went down to the park?"
"Not at all, that's fine."
"Ok, thanks"
"Bye"
"Bye"

August got up, put her shoes back on, grabbed her backpack, which contained sunglasses, a notebook, and a laptop that her dad had bought her for her 14th birthday. After all was done, she walked out of the house and down to the park. Once she got there, she walked around to find a spot where she could be alone. Unfortunately for her, that wasn't going to happen. Once around the fountain, she spotted Taylor playing with Mackenzie and Zac shooting baskets. She quickly grabbed her sunglasses and put them on, in all hopes that they wouldn't see her. She looked up at Zac, only to see him watching her. She waved slightly, hoping he would get the point and not tell Taylor. He got it. He nodded towards her and went back to shooting.

Relieved, August found an old path and walked down it. She walked until she came to an opening. It was beautiful. She had come across a bluff that overlooked the Tulsa lake. Smiling, she walked over to one of the large oak trees and sat down. She opened her backpack and took out the laptop. She flipped it on and put it on the battery. She opened the file where she wrote her thoughts. She began typing. She typed her thoughts about everything that had happened since she came to Tulsa, everything from the plane ride, to the skating accident, to liking Taylor, and then feeling hated by Taylor. When she recalled the last part, tears formed in her eyes again.

"Why did this happen?"
"Why did what happen?"

Startled, August snapped her head up, to be faced with Taylor. "No" she thought "I can't talk to him."

"Why did you have to hate me" was all she said.

Quickly, she saved her file, shut down the computer and closed it. She stuffed it in her backpack and zipped that up. With one last look at a stunned Taylor, she began to run. She ran as hard as she could back to the Hanson house. She ran around the house and to the treehouse. She could see the lamp on. She knew that it was most likely Zac up there. Her thoughts were correct. He poked his head out of the window when he heard footsteps. Once he saw August running toward the treehouse, he quickly let down the rope and helped her up.

"August, whats wrong?"
"He hates me Zac, he totally hates me."
"Wait, slow down. Who hates you?"
"Your brother"
"Could you please speciafy? You do realize that I have three brothers."
"Sorry" she laughed
"Which one?"
"Taylor"
"No he doesn't"
"So then why is he acting like this?"
"You really want to know?"

August smiled a weak smile.

"You seriously think that I'd ask if I didn't want to know?"
"Well....."
"Zac!"
"How am I supposed to know?! You could be weird and really not want to know!"

August laughed and messed up his hair. He became mock-defensive.

"Hey Hey Hey!! Watch it with the hair!! They like my hair!"

August laughed.

"You gonna tell me or not."
" Yes, but I'm not supposed to. You didn't hear it from me, deal?"
"Deal"
"Ok. Tay got alittle jealous today when you guys came to the mall. He got jealous of Ike when you two came out of the mall holding hands."
"Wait a second! Isaac was doing that so he wouldn't lose me! He didn't mean anything by it!"
"I know that, but Tay doesn't believe me. He thinks you like Ike more than you like him."
"But, I like Taylor. I mean, I really like him, but he doesn't like me."

KKKKKKKKKK.. Zac? You there?

Zac motioned for August to be quiet. He quickly searched through a pile of sleeping bags to reveal a walkie talkie.

"Yea Tay, I'm here, what's up?"
"Have you seen August?"

Zac looked to August. She shook her head.

"No Tay, last I saw of her was at the park. Why are you looking for her?"
"I need to talk to her"
"Bout what"
"I want to tell her something"
"What are you gonna tell her?"
"Why are you being nosy?"
"Why'd you answer a question with a question?"
"Shut up Zac"
"Just tell me what you were gonna tell her, practice on me."

Zac smiled in August's direction and motioned for her to come closer to the walkie talkie.

"Well, I was going to tell her that I was sorry for earlier and that I deserved to have her avoid me."
"That's it"
"No, but I'm not going to tell you the rest."
"Fine! Deprive me of gossip!!"
"I will."
"Shut up Jordan"
"Watch it short man"
"HaHaHa"
"Oh, and if you see August, tell her, um, what am I supposed to say? Oh yea, tell her that Julie is here. I was supposed to say something, but i forgot."
"Ok Tay, I'll be sure to tell her, If I see her."

"August?"
"Yea?"
"Julie's here"
"Oh my god!"
"Tay told me to tell you."
"Oh my god. Zac, come on, we're going inside!"
"Uh, ok"

August jumped down from the treehouse and grabbed the bag that Zac was holding. He jumped down and she started running to the house. She finally reached the porch and rushed into the kitchen. No One there. She ran into the living room.

"Julie!!!"
"Hey!!"

The two friends shared an embrace and then separated.

"What are you doing here!?"
"I came to visit you!!"
"But, your mom said...."
"That I was visiting a friend"
"Oh man! I'm dumb!!"

The two friends kept talking, until Taylor and Zac entered the room.

"Oh, Julie. I'd like to introduce you to my little buddy, Zac, and that's Taylor"
