Dave Matthews Band Takes Third in Concert Cash for 1999
The band rakes in $44 million for the year

For the second year in a row, Dave Matthews Band is again a powerhouse on the annual earnings sheet for touring. The band scooped up an estimated $44 million dollars in tour money this year, ranking them third out of the top grossing concert acts. The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band pulled in $90 million and $50 million, respectively, according to Sunday night's broadcast of MTV News 1515. Despite having respectable leads over DMB, these bands also charged considerably more per ticket. Finalized numbers and additional information will be available shortly before the year's end.

Last year Dave Matthews Band came in second place to Elton John in North American tour earnings, bringing in $40.1 million. The band was also one of only two acts (the other being Garth Brooks) to receive over one million concertgoers in 1998.
