Dave Matthews Band Makes Donation

Dave Matthews Band, which got its start playing at The Flood Zone in
Richmond, has pitched in with an anonymous donor to give $500,000 dollars
to create a new park in the southern Albemarle County community of Esmont.
The 13.5-acre site will include basketball and tennis courts, fields,
playground facilities and bathrooms.

Albemarle County park and recreation officials estimate the cost of
building the park at about $650,000. "In these times of economic
prosperity," Capshaw told the paper, "there are some pockets here that
could still use some help."

In 1999, the Dave Matthews Band donated almost $50,000 to renovate
Washington Park in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the group has also
offered to chip in $80,000 for improvements to a skateboard park, also in
Charlottesville.
