Dave Matthews will guest on Emmylou Harris' upcoming album!

After teaming up with Emmylou Harris at last year's Johnny Cash Tribute and at a taping of Austin City Limits this past February, Dave Matthews will once again perform with the country singer/songwriter on her upcoming studio album Red Dirt Girl. This seemingly inevitable collaboration between the two musicians will be one of twelve tracks appearing on the release, due in stores September 12. Below is the official announcement from Atlantic Records:

Folk and country music fans will be happy to know that Emmylou Harris will soon be releasing RED DIRT GIRL - Harris' first solo studio recording since 1995's WRECKING BALL. Harris, who in the course of her 29 album career has worked with legends like Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Neil Young, will be rounding out RED DIRT GIRL with a Dave Matthews duet. RED DIRT GIRL will also enlist the vocal talent of Bruce Springsteen, Patti Scialfa and Patty Griffin.

Harris' GIRL features Malcolm Burn at the production helm (who also had a hand in WRECKING BALL), and will also include Buddy Miller on lead guitar, Daryl Johnson on bass and drums, Malcolm Burn on piano, guitar and bass, and Ethan Johns on drums, guitar and various other instruments. RED DIRT GIRL, of which 11 of the 12 tracks were penned by Harris herself, is slated for release September 12th on Nonesuch Records. Emmylou's feelings about the upcoming album? "RED DIRT GIRL is a very meaningful record for me. I've only written this much for an album once before - for THE BALLAD OF SALLY ROSE - and I'm very pleased as well with what we have accomplished in the studio."
