*NOTE* I am currently flooded with trades and B+P's. Sorry, no more B+P until this message disappears!

RULES!

1. I am in the process of removing all shows from my list that are flawed. I am 90% sure that I have removed them all, but I will check before each trade to be sure.

1A. Over 50% of the discs I've gotten lately have had some sort of flaw. From now on if you contact me, YOU send first. If you send me a disc that is flawed I will ask you to replace it before I send my end of the deal. I am sorry that it has come to this, but I have gotten too much garbage in trades lately. I understand that many source tapes from the 1970's have faults, and that's not the problem. The problem comes from flaws introduced in the ripping/burning phase.

1B. What I mean by flaws is tics, pops, static, and two-second gaps at the cue stops. I'm also talking about any pops, clicks, and other errors that aren't present on the source tape. I realize that some source tapes from the 1960's and 1970's sometimes have pops or other faults, I'm not worried about them.

2. I am only looking for cdrs with a known lineage from the master tapes/reels. I will sometimes accept cdrs of bootlegs depending on the title and/or rarity of the show.

2A. When it comes to the Grateful Dead, I am only interested in shows without cassette generations, except those shows where no other source is available. I am more lenient when it comes to the other bands.

3. I prefer to trade with people who care about quality. In other words, I do not want cdrs with pops, clicks, and dropouts. Use the proper software and take your time.

4. You MUST use DAO when burning! I do not want 2 second gaps between each track. This is important! I would prefer that you rip your cds with Exact Audio Copy.

5. I prefer to use brand name cdrs such as Kodak, Mitsui, etc. I am flexible to a point about what cdrs to use. Right now I am using Taiyo Yuden and TDK blanks.

6. I usually do not have time for 2:1 or B+P's, but it never hurts to ask!

7. When you contact me for a trade please mention what type of hardware/sofware you use to rip and burn. I have gotten some poor quality cdrs lately.

Are you confused? Here's some info:

DM = The master DAT
MR = The master reel
MC = The master cassette
RR = Reel-to-reel tape
C = Cassette
DAT = Digital Audio Tape
CDR = Compact Disc Recordable
CD = I own this original issue bootleg.
PCM = Recording made on the initial version of consumer digital audio.
SHN = Shorten compression format, no loss of quality.

EXAMPLES:

CD = I own this original bootleg
CD>CDR = I own a copy of this bootleg
MASTER>DAT>CDR = A cdr made from a DAT clone of the master
MASTER>C>CDR = A cdr made from a 1st generation cassette

*While I believe that the lineages are correct for the low gen shows on my list I do have to rely on the information that I get from the people I trade with. If you think any are incorrect and you have information to the contrary please drop me an email.*

JIMI HENDRIX

Many of my Hendrix shows are known as Archived Traders Material releases and are put together by private collectors and many times are much better than bootleg releases and sometimes even better than what has been offcially released. [Quote from the Release notes / Jon's Attic: This has to be one of the best audience recordings from Jim's 1970 American tour but sadly it probably will never see the light of day as a Dagger release although in my humble opinion it should be strong candidate. A cracker of a concert from start to finish, it has spell binding versions of "Red House" (64) and "Hear My Train A-Comin'" (41). The version of "Machine Gun" (17) here is an absolute killer. The more familiar version on the "Band of Gypsys" album was just a rehearsal for this. There are a couple of dropouts at the start of the show. These could be fixed but this is the raw, unedited source straight from the master reel.]

    [* A total of 4 sources have been used for this merge; The Sbd source from "Stages", the Sbd source from the "Jimi Hendrix At The Atlanta Pop Festival" VHS, the Stereo Aud source and the Sbd Space mix.]
    notes:
    - The "Stages" and VHS soundboards have fake audience noise loops - including booing loops (!) - throughout the concert. These have all been deleted in this merge.
    - Only "Red House" (71), "All Along The Watchtower" (10) and "Hey Joe" (56) are taken from the VHS video.
    - The Audience recording contains the most accurate atmosphere of the actual concert and thus the merge has been built around it.
    - Only the end of "Freedom" (21), "Foxy Lady" (89) and the beginning of "Purple Haze" (98) are missing on the Aud source.
    - The Space mix has no fake audience noises but has ugly reverb added to it (hence 'space' mix). This source has been used as 'in between song banter' filler - especially on the parts not recorded by the audience tape - and to fill the gaps left due to the deletion of the 'fake audience noises'.

    Copenhagen '70 (Collector's Disc) "Old Source aka 1st Source" Raw Source, no EQ or NR. The Arhus show has been speed corrected. Tracks 1-10 of the Copenhagen show have been speed corrected as "best as possible". There are fluctuations in speed which have been mostly corrected, but some are too jarring to deal with. The Arhus was transferred from a DAT clone of the master tape, as was Copenhagen. Copenhagen is one of 4 known sources to circulate. This is the "old source" as it is known in trader's circles. KB Hallen - Merge (Vibratory 001) (KB Hallen, Copenhagen 03.09.70 [Complete Show - Vibratory Stereo Effect mix (3 Sources)];) Aud; 1st, 2nd & 5th Source synchronized
    notes:
    - Up until "Freedom" (26) there are 3 sources mixed: Source 1 left, Source 5 right and Source 2 in the middle. A lot of pitch corrections were done on source 1 and 5. No EQ or filters were applied. Since Source 5 ends with "Freedom" (26) the rest of the concert consists of the two remaining sources: Source 1 left and Source 2 on the right. The pre-"Red House" (79) part is remixed to omit source 2, leaving Source 1 and 2 left and right respectively. But Source 2 is still used to fill gaps. Some phasing occures at the very beginning of "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)" (13), and also a few times throughout the merge, though very briefly. Also source 5 begins to stutter violently during "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)" (13), followed by a gap, and then resumes and continues to stutter well into "All Along The Watchtower" (13). This is covered up with source 2 and by keeping source 5 lower in the mix until the 'stutter-part' is over. Source 2 is the most complete source and fills gaps from the original tapes left and right so there's some panning going on a few times.

    - Stage Tape (1st Source) to the left, Windy Tape (2nd Source) to the right, and 3rd Source in the middle (fills gaps missing left and right).
    - This version has a slightly better sync and different mix than Version 1.034; Stage tape iss mixed 42% to the left (50% is center) during the parts where 3rd source isn't present, Giving the stereo image a more bassy less seperated feel.

    [* This is a compilation from different tape sources. Because of minor repairs that were done, it shouldn't be considered a "raw sources" collection. There were many clicks scattered throughout the recordings, and several bursts of static. Most of these were repaired, although some that indicated tape stoppages on the original recording were kept. Pitch of some tracks was adjusted as mentioned below. In a couple of cases where two different sources were composited together to make the most complete version of a song, some EQ was applied to the parts to make the sound consistent. There were many sudden or gradual changes in recording level, so volume adjustments have been made to even these out. The lowest generation material was exactly at concert pitch, and for all tracks with vocals by Jimi, vocals sounded correct at concert pitch. Therefore all of the tracks were adjusted to match this tuning. In most cases this required less than a 2% adjustment, so most people won't notice the difference. But at least all of the material is at the same tuning now.]
