" 'Progressive' denotes a form of music in which electric instruments and rock-band formats are integrated with European classical motifs and orchestrations,
typically forming extended, intricate, multisectional suites." "This movement began in Great Britain as an outgrowth of psychedelia's adventurism.
This movement placed emphasis upon daunting instrumental virtuosity and grandiosity over earthly directness."

I enjoy many different types of music, however my favorite
tends to be the amalgamation of folk, classical, jazz, baroque, new wave, reggae, etc. also known as art rock or progressive rock. I prefer to call this extraordinary music- mind-expansion music!
Ah, art rock, what a refreshing type of music! This type of music synthesized various elements of classical and baroque, jazz, and blues and incorporated them into one of the most complicated and interesting varieties of music created in the 20th century! I have been an aficionado of this music for nearly 20 years in one form or another! My first experience with this type of music dates back over 20 years ago to the time that I was a sophomore in high school and I heard a song on the radio called "Dust In The Wind" by a group called Kansas! Since then, I have been so thoroughly amazed by this timeless music that I have gone to great lengths to find recordings from as many of these groups as possible. I have been thoroughly impressed with the new release by Asia-Arena. However, my favorite recording by any of these groups still remains: Rush: Exit... Stage Left!
