Hi! Welcome to my homepage!

THE MIDDLE MODERN-PERIOD ALBUMS

This period would revitalize much of the guitar work which was lacking in the Early Modern period, now the songs were barely over 5 minutes in length, and Alex Lifeson's guitar work had once again become the leading instrument. There are many great short songs in this period. Please consult each of the individual cds for a listing!

Presto · Roll The Bones · Counterparts · Test For Echo · Diferent Stages

Counterparts    (1993)

Counterparts, although a very good recording is unfortunately a step backward from either "PRE", or "RTB!" Rush experiments with "alternative" rock with disastrous consequences! Several of Rush's songs on "CP" are very good! However, this album contains Rush's absolutely worst song- that malaise of the radio-"Stick It Out!" This is absolutely horrible and tends to ruin an otherwise good album! "Animate," "Cut To The Chase," "Nobody's Hero," "Cold Fire," "Leave That Thing Alone," "Everyday Glory" and "Cut To The Chase" are superb! The rest of the songs are good, not spectacular by any stretch of the imagination! That awful song, a throwback to "Lessons" should be burned at the stake!

Test For Echo    (1996)

I'll be quite honest with you. For the first several times that I listened to this cd- I was not impressed! However, as I listened to it more and more, I came to realize that this cd was outstanding! It is not as great as either Presto, or Bones. It definitely beats the "you know what out of Counterparts!" Many tracks are outstanding, particularly: "Time And Motion," "Resist," "The Color Of Right," "Totem," "Limbo" and "Carve Away The Stone!" "Half The World" and "Driven" are also quite good! A great album overall: flawed only slightly by "Dog Years" and "Virtuality!"

Different Stages    (1998)

A superb live album, but not as great in my opinion, as Exit. A more detailed review will be available within a couple weeks!
