This is a pro shot video that was supposed to be released as a multi-LP/video package titled "Soundcheck". It was recorded over a 5 day period and The Replacements and Loud Fast Rules (pre-Soul Asylum) were also taped. There is a bit of a mystery about the actual date. If you play Land Speed Record at the same time as the video, the first 8 songs match up perfectly (see set list below), as well as tracks 10-14 and tracks 16-18 (although the video does seem to play a bit out of sync with the CD, most likely due to multiple copyings, all sounds, yells, drum beats etc match up perfectly). Do the Bee and Data Control are strangely missing from the video and apperantly were edited into Land Speed Record later? According to the inner album notes on Land Speed Record, it was recorded on 8-15-81, but according to the Husker Du Database (thanks Paul!) it was recorded either 9-1-81 or 9-5-81, as thats the date most seen on The Replacements recordings from that time. So it's either one of the 3 dates mentioned above. Please see Pauls page for tons more cool info: http://world.std.com/~thirdave/hd.html.
Here is the set list for the videotape:
