Broken Tapes est né en France en 1987. Son principe est simple: réunir sur une cassette de jeunes groupes venant du monde entier et la diffuser auprès d'un maximum de gens à un prix minimum.
Broken Tapes was born in France in 1987. The way it works is simple: we gather on a tape several new bands from all over the world and make it available to a maximum of people for a minimum price.
10 ans après sort la 50ème Broken Tape. Le credo reste le même: montrer que le punk n'est pas un son unique, une idée unique, une attitude unique, et surtout pas une mode. Le punk est vivant, international, électrique, acoustique, calme, bruyant, intelligent, débile. Il est et doit rester. Rester accessible à tous et facilement, c'est ce que nous essayons de faire avec peu de moyens.
10 years after comes out the 50th Broken Tape. The goal remains the same: to show that punk is not only one sound, one idea, one attitude and absolutely not a fashion. Punk is alive, international, electric, accoustic, quiet, noisy, intelligent, silly. It is and must stay. Stay accessible to all and easily, that's what we try to do with small means.

En Janvier 98, nous avons décidé d'arreter Broken Tapes pour reprendre le même principe sur des cd compilations.
Here's a list of the Broken Tapes, most of them aren't available anymore but they deserved to be all together here, even if it's only for the bands now disappeared that were on them. In January '98, we have decided to stop Broken Tapes but we keep the same system to put out some compilation cds instead.
