Oasis Similarities

I don't know about everyone else, but it sure seems to me that Oasis
sometimes strives to be like The Beatles a little too much. Don't
get me wrong, I am a fan of Oasis. But a big part of it is because
they like The Beatles so much. :-) Anyway, this page lists some of
the things Oasis copied from The Beatles. These are what I have found.
If you know anymore or I made a mistake or whatever,
please e-mail me. Marcie

On the Oasis album (What's the Story)Morning Glory?, there is a song called, Wonderwall. George Harrison has a solo album called Wonderwall that was released in 1968.

Wonderwall also has the line, All the roads we walk are winding. Hmmmm....perhaps a long and winding road?

The song, Don't Look Back In Anger, there is the line, so I start a revolution from my bed. This is probably a reference to John and Yoko's bed in for peace.

In the song, Morning Glory, there are two lines one after another that go, Walking to the sound of my favourite tune-Tomorrow Never Knows what it doesn't know too soon is right. I might be guessing, but do you think Noel's favourite song is Tomorrow Never Knows from Revolver?

The music video to Champaign Supernova has one of the band members in John Lennon granny glasses spelling out the word Help in dominoes.

The Be Here Now cover has a car in a swimming pool. The car has the same license plate as the black van on the cover of The Beatles Abbey Road.

Special thanks to my friend, Ben for this one

In the song D'You Know What I Mean? There is the line, "the fool on the hill and I feel fine." Okay everyone, now this was blatant. Seriously, to names of Beatles songs in the same line. That's no coinky-dink.

My Big MouthThe line of lyrics, "Down the long and winding road...back home to you." Hmmmmmm.........you figure it out.

The song Magic Pie. Well, first off, the name is probably a play on Paul's Flaming Pie. The first lines of the song are:
An extra-ordinary guy(perhaps Paul, after all, Paul is the man on the flaming pie)
Can never have an ordinary day(Paul and the press?)
He might live the long goodbye(still playing great music)
But that is not for me to say
I dig his friends, I dig his shoes(his friends, The Beatles?)

The song, Stand By Me is also the name of a song John covered on Imagine's soundtrack.

In the centerof the booklet from the CD, Be Here Now, there is a collage of Oasis photos, which could be a reference to The Beatles Anthology cover.

The song, Fade In-Out has a line that says, "So get on the Helter Skelter."

The song, It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) is also the name of the Beatles tune, Getting Better on Sgt. Pepper. The song has the line, "So bring it home and it won't be long." There is an ode to the song by The Beatles, It Won't Be Long. As well as the lines:
Hey! What was it that you said to me?
Just say the word and I'd be free?
The song The Word on Rubber Soul, has the lyrics:
Say the Word...
And be like me...
Say the Word...
And you'll be free...

The video to All Around the World has Oasis in a yellow spaceship with it in a cartoon background, which imitates the movie Yellow Submarine. And at one point a yellow submarine floats across the screen.

From the song Supersonic - " if you could sail with me, my yellow submarine"

The end of "She's Electric" copies the end of "With a little help from my friends"

The photographs of the "Be here now" booklet are a copy of the White Album's insert poster in the in the record or the booklet in the CD.

Thanks to Anna of the Field for the last three

Please e-mail me with more! I will add them to the list!
