Review of The Flower Kings
September 6, 1998 Live at Progday 98',Chapel Hill, NC
By: Jimmy Giant

How well could you do following Par Lindh Project? Well, unless you're the second coming or the Flower Kings, hang it up. Roine Stolt and company came in and kicked some American ass. With their signature Swedish sound of dual guitars, mellotron and analog leads and great vocal harmonies, they filled the Farm with the second taste of Northern European prog of the festival. Selecting cuts from all the Flower King CDs, they played well past dark to a crowd that just wouldn't leave until the music stopped. The set closed with a medley of "The Flower King" flowing into an edited version of "Stardust We Are". A very tasteful closing to Progday 98'.

Newcomer Robert Engstrand filled in on keys as Tomas Bodin could not make the trip.
Robert did very well and I'm sure he didn't have a whole lot of time to prepare.
Unfortunately we didn't get to see Tomas, a key member of the band.
However, Robert played admirably and really enjoyed the gig.
