My guitars & more
Here you get photos of me and my Les Paul, Gretsch White Falcon and much more. There is also a free guitarposter at the end of the page. So please don´t mind the loading time - I´ll be back in a few seconds!

It took me many years to get to where I am today, and I had the  chance to make lots of mistakes to learn from. My first guitar (at the age of 16) came from a mail order shop. It had 3 pickups that sounded one as the other and a beautiful sunburst finish. Actually it was awful, but it was my first instrument and I loved it. After one year of practicing I was invited to join the only band in my village.

I managed to get a black Les Paul copy and a pre CBS Bassman with 1x15" Cabinet. I started learnig at lightning speed and soon we were supporting act when the big names played in the nearby town. Better Les Paul copies followed, but the original was still out of reach. After playing an Ibanez Artist semiacousic for more than 10 years, I got a Les Paul Custom.

It was almost what I looked for but not compeletely. In 1995 I found the Les Paul Classic Goldtop I play now, and it´s my main guitar. wanna´hear it?

The Gretsch White Falcon is my other important guitar. It was Elisabeth who encouraged me to buy it. At first I did not know what to do with it because it is so different. Now I use it in almost every song. It looks like a 50ties Cadillac and has a unique sound. Here it is!

My main acoustic guitar is a Lakewood D20. It is similar to a Martin, but is has an even lighter response. It´s a beautiful guitar and I´m happy that I found it.

Most of our music is instrumental, so the instruments got to have all the tone that is needed to make a tune emotional and expressive. Here is a track from our latest album "Suite for the tibetans 2 - Himalaya suite". It is calledGyayum Tschenmo (The Divine Mother)

My main amp is a strange creation: It is a 1969 Bandmaster Reverb with a built in GT trio preamp.

The eq of the Fender main channel is bypassed. It is used as poweramp and for reverb and vibrato (which i love).
This channel is fed from the GT preamp.
The Bandmaster´s 2nd channel is fed from a Korg Stage echo, that gets it´s signal from the preamp as well.
The Korg tape echo has a spring reverb tank as well. This enables me to run part of the echo thru the spring first before it gets into the amp.

The amount of possible echo / reverb combinations is endless, and although we have lots of high end processors in our studio, I always end up recording the guitars with the tape echo and the Fender´s tube reverb. It simply sounds great.

The cabinet is also an old 2 x 12" Bandmaster with Kendrick Black frame Speakers. I changed it to open back, as the sound was too sqeezed with the back closed.

In my Studio, I also use a American standard Strat, a Fenix Tele with Duncans, a Yamaha spanish guitar, a Career mandolin and a Career 12-string which sounds remarkably good.

By accident I got a Framus double - neck pedal steel. I´m not a country player and my technique is limited, but I love it, especially the C6 tuning. I have used it for textures and little gimmicks on a lot of recordings.

Finally the theremin! Once I saw one on tv, I was mad about trying it. In 1997 I bought a Big Briar kit.

Although I don´t have too much time for practicing, I start feeling comfortable when playing it. It requires all of your intuition and concentration to play it, but you are rewarded with otherworldly sounds. (For those who don´t know the theremin - check the search engines, there is plenty of information on this unique instrument.)

Here is a short article on how to play sexy!
