RB Lady's Monthly Notes
(For October 2001)
The events of September 11, 2001 has affected us all in
some way. For myself, the attack on the World Trade Center in New York
takes on a personal meaning. As a small child in the late 1960's, I was
able to see the Twin Towers rise up into the New York skyline from our kitchen
window. Later, I commuted to and from downtown New York, first as a
student at Pace University, then as an office worker. Moreover, my mother,
sister, and husband have, at one time or another, worked in the area.
Fortunately my loved ones no longer commute to New York and are safe.
However, the same cannot be said for the families of the victims. The best
way us RB Faithful can help is to contribute to the various charities and drives
set up to help the families and the rescue workers. Let us show our
support in this time of grief. Thank you. September's Question of the Month
posed the question, "What is your favorite Bill Medley album cover?"
For me, that album cover is for "Right Here and Now." The
recording itself is not one of my favorite Bill albums. However, the cover
photo of Bill is striking. Bill's stance, the expression on his face, the
look in his eyes, clearly conveys the meaning of the title track. A truly
dramatic image of Mr. Medley that has graced an album cover. Because of the
high volume of messages on the Yahoo Message Boards, some of you may have not
been able to post responses to the Question of the Month. One fan, Paul
Redrup, cited his favorite Bill Medley album cover as the back photo on the
"Sweet Thunder" album. Again, apologies to anyone attempting to
post on the boards. Hopefully the board should be working again soon, so
keep trying. If you have the good fortune of meeting Bill and/or Bobby,
don't hesitate to tell them about the Fan Forum. Please encourage them to share any
stories or trivia that they feel fans may enjoy. Any contribution (photos or stories)
is greatly appreciated. Bill and Bobby are very down-to-earth and enjoy talking
with their fans. Remember, it is their website as well as
ours. I also appreciate any news on Bill and Bobby that might be of
interest to fans.
