As Joey and I were walking back to the car, I told him about me and Jason . "So lemme get this straight: Jason dumped that slut Diane so he could go out with you? Damn, when did the sense get knocked into him?" Joey asked. I laughed. "I don't know, but I love him. We've had a pretty solid relationship, but I've been getting the feeling lately that he's been cheating on me," I told him sadly. "Don't worry about it. It's probably nothing," Joey reassured me. I changed the subject, not wanting to talk about it any longer. "Thanks again Joey," I told him, "I love the dress!" "Not a problem," he said. I had picked out a really, really glittery turquoise spaghetti-strap dress that had a split up the right leg to the knee, and I also picked out a pair of black strappy sandals. You would think that I was going to a special party or something with the outfit on, but then again, this was a special event. Joey said that it looked good on me, not at all gaudy, and I know he was telling the truth, so I got it. "Ya' know, it's too bad you're not single," Joey said. "Why?" I asked him. "Well, I know you really like Nick, and Nick seems quite interested in you, even though you haven't met each other yet. I really think you two would hit it off great!" Joey said. "Hey, things can happen between now and Monday," I said. "Maybe if we like each other, I might break it off with Jason! What girl wouldn't date a Backstreet Boy?" "Shanda," Joey said promptly, and we both laughed. "She seriously has a few screws loose! I feel bad for her," I said with mock pity. "Actually, she seems a lot more normal than she used to be," Joey said. "She is," I replied. "Joe, we just passed the car!" We turned back to the car and left the mall, not knowing what could happen between now and Monday. |
