Reggae Reggae Reggae, by Colin
Mc Glasham, The Sunday Times Magazin, on 4 February 1973
The first "front page and colour
feature" on reggae in the UK. "trombonist Rico Rodriguez featured prominently
both in text and photos. 'Richard Williams [Sunday Times reporter] came
to see me and he came to a Rasta party with us,' recalls Rico. 'He stayed
all night - I think he was one of the first [to report on the scene].'"

a horn, RICO
Spending more than a week just to
write a small piece on Rico, a great trombonist, I found it's a hard work
to write in English. ... You can enjoy my photos of him with a smile and
a bit of a story behind his latest album called "Wonderful World".

There are lots of fine information
on ska and early releases in the UK. In the section for biographies you
can find a photography from the 1950s with Rico and Don Drummond side by
side on trombone (as well as Rupie Anderson and Carlos Malcolm). In the
concert review sections there are reports on shows with Rico: Laurel Aitken,
2001 in London and Heroes Of Kingston, 2002 in London

- Interview: Rico Rodriguez, réalissée par Sebastien Jobart,
15.5.2004
URL: http://www.reggaefrance.com/interview-1-rico-rodriguez.html,
4/2005
This interview has no real news,
but Rico confirms his first ever recording session (w/ Derrick Harriot).
Rico is a very kind person: Asked about C.S. Dodd and his contribution
on inventing ska - he was in fact one of the producers pushing Rico out
of Jamaica - Rico explains: "Coxsone Dodd était un homme qui adorait
la musique et s'y intéressait beaucoup. Il a Su s'entourer des meilleurs
musiciens. Il avait des compositeurs, des gens qui #ecrivaient la musique."
