Jim Powell

Jim plays the keyboards for Stagepass. He also plays cowbells and tambourine and occasionally croaks out some backing vocals. Jim has taken music theory and has played trombone for 27 years and still does with the Riverside Alumni Band. However in 1978, he decided that the horn wasn't cut out for rock music. So he started teaching himself the keyboards. His first band was with Kelly Derrick and a few other rockers and was called Crystal Rain. He played with them from 79 through 83. He then went on to a band called Sybil. After Sybil broke up in 86, he "retired" for 5 years. Then, out of the blue, Kelly calls and says he's putting a MSB tribute band together for some part time gigs and asks him if he would be interested. The rest is history. Jim wrote the Stagepass originals Takin' a Chance and Shine in the Night. He is newly re-married as of June 2001 (to beautiful Char) and the father of 3. He and his family live in Concord Twp (near the booming metropolis of Painesville). His real job is a LAN Administrator/Team Leader at McDonald Investments in Cleveland. He also plays in 2 other side project bands in the Lake County area (The Yardrats and The Perry Pole Barn Project). He likes music, aviation, boating, and bowling. He's also a die hard Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
