Kevin Morgan

Kevin is the other "silent" member of Stagepass (reference Jim’s bio...) and plays drums, percussion, and provides background vocals for the band. After two years of the obligatory piano lessons as an eight year old kid, he figured playing drums in the school band would carry a bit more fun along with it. Unfortunately, he also soon found that it carries a lot of equipment with it too. (It’s amazing what you can cram into a Pontiac Sunbird if you really have to). After countless school concerts and time served for good behavior with Mentor’s marching band (a prerequisite to every after-school cadence practice was a six pack of 3.2 Stroh’s, vintage 1978 ... a fringe benefit of the drum section), Kevin really had no additional thoughts of pursuing outside interests in music. Then a friend called saying an acquaintance was putting a band together and needed a drummer, and soon the band ‘Stranger’ came to be. This first band never amounted to much more than ambiance for neighborhood keg parties, but it sparked an avocation that’s lasted for eighteen years.

The local music scene is generally one that results in a lot of paths crossing between musicians, and Kevin’s situation was no different. After ‘Stranger,’ he hooked up with the duo ‘Dakota’, which eventually expanded into a six piece group called ‘Rumor Hazit,’ playing an odd blend of everything from the Beatles to America to Hank Williams Jr. After ‘Rumor Hazit’ split up, the keyboard player joined a band with a guitarist named John Nichols and a bassist by the name of Al Damm. After an episode involving cat hairballs and conflict management (ask John), this band was in the market for another drummer. Guess who they called??? And so Kevin became a member of the band ‘Shooter,’ and laid down the disco-like rhythms of Madonna and Tina Marie...sort of the "Holiday Inn Thing." And so, yada, yada, yada, when Kelly and Jim contacted John a couple of years after the demise of Shooter to put a band together, he brought Al and Kevin along for the ride that’s been happenin’ for the past eight years. Al got off the train a couple of years ago, but Kevin says "Stagepass was lucky to find Colin, who is every bit as big a pain in the ass ("Why doesn’t anyone ever answer my e-mail?" whaaa)...but he’s got good chops and is a genuinely nice guy, so we’ll keep him."

Kevin resides in Madison, OH with his wife, Lori, and their five year old daughter and three year old son. He does the grunt routine like most of us during the week as Contract Services Coordinator for Tridelta Industries in Mentor, where he’s done time for the past seventeen years.

He’s working on a degree in Business Management (ever so slooowly), enjoys American History, loves the Tribe (and hopefully the Browns again someday) and particularly NASCAR (nothing like a cold Miller Genuine Draft, 700 horse power and 100,000 screamin’ rednecks.)
