Subject: Auckland concert review

From: Andrew Stevenson <jacestevenson@xtra.co.nz>

They came, they played, they were great, they left.

Or if you want a slightly longer review:

They played the North Shore Events centre in Auckland in late October 1997. The gig was opened by shite NZ "artist" Darcy Clay (who actually commited suicide just last week- probably after seeing blur and realising that he was in fact crap!)

The band walks on (lots of screaming), Alex has got a cup of tea and is trying to throw a fag into his mouth (unsuccessfully). They opened with Beetlebum, went on to play everything from the latest album except Essex Dogs and Theme From Retro (which is the only Blur song ever I don't really like), and they also chucked in lots of other classics like Advert, Girls & Boys, and Parklife. (no Popscene or Coping which was a bit disappointing). They finished with Song 2.

Other than the brilliant music it was fairly uneventful. Damon did his best to piss off the security by insisting on standing on the crowd barriers and moshing on the PAs. He jumped up on Dave's bass drum a couple of times (I thought he was going to wipe out the whole drum kit at one stage). And other than that he just did his usual routine of throwing water over everyone.

At one stage Graham knocked over his microphone (after he hit it with his swinging guitar) and it landed SMACK in the back of some security-blokes' head! Ha!

Other point of interest: Damon was drinking Heineken.

That's about it. In summary: it was a fucking good show!

Subject: blur concert review--june11,1997-washington dc

From: Elisabeth Harper <pixie95@home.com>

Blur-June 11, 1997-The Capitol Ballroom-Washington DC it was hot and humid and uncomfortable but blur were gonna play so every one was in a really good mood:) That Dog opened up and i could see damon and graham on the side of the stage watching-being the spazzes that we are, my friends and i jumped up and down screaming DAMON!GRAHAM!WE LOVE YOU!!!and they answered us back with really weird and nasty looks but they still noticed us! anyway, after awhile all of blur came on and opened up with beetlebum followed by movin' on, country sad ballade man(graham really likes that one), stereotypes, parklife, she's so high, all your life, this is a low(that one was quite good), girls and boys, bank holiday, song 2, popscene, death of a party, mor, look inside america, jubilee, on your own, and chinese bombs. damon wasn't quite as hyper as one would expect because of the intense heat-infact he said to expect to see him making strange ugly faces cuz of it-but he still did his classic spraying of evian water which was much appreciated by all.dave kept himself hidden behind the drums while graham was hard at work with the guitar. alex kept to his bass n fags(looking damn fine i might add). occasionally damon escaped to the back to add a bit of keyboards. all in all, it was a great concert and well worth the 16.50 that was paid. love to all, Beth
Subject: SETLIST-ROXY, PHOENIX, AZ FROM 91 OR 92

From: Greg King <GKing@Rational.Com>

It was a pretty interesting show to say the least. I was standing in front of Graham, and must of yelled for Luminous 10-15 times during the show....After they came back from their break, Damon said they were going to play Luminous live for the first time ever and he pointed at me....

I have a copy signed by both Damon and Graham. Graham wrote Luminous on the Set List, and misspelled it "Lumimouse". I have a couple more at home. A Great Escape from 95' and a Blur show from February 97' (20 songs or so)....If you like this one and feel it is Best Days worthy, let me know and I'll email you the others as well. Check out the set list.
