Bon Jovi To Regroup For New Album

Bon Jovi will be coming back for the year 2000.
The New Jersey-based rockers haven't recorded an album together since the 1995 release "These Days," but all the members of the band -- including frontman Jon Bon Jovi and guitarist Richie Sambora -- plan to convene in a studio this summer to cut a new album that's tentatively due out early next year.

Bon Jovi has been on hiatus for nearly five years, during which Jon Bon Jovi has focused on developing his acting career. He drew respectable reviews for his turn opposite Demi Moore in the straight-to-video flick "Destination Anywhere," and he's also had roles in such films as "Moonlight and Valentino" and "Homegrown."

The singer-actor is currently on location in Malta where he's filming the World War II submarine drama "U-571" with Matthew McConaughey, Bill Paxton, and Harvey Keitel.

Just last week, Jon Bon Jovi jumped onstage with a fellow New Jersey denizen, Bruce Springsteen, during the Boss' encore at a concert in Lyon, France, and sang backing vocals on Springsteen's 1980 hit, "Hungry Heart."

Jon Bon Jovi Plans Charity Events
Singer-turned-actor Jon Bon Jovi is currently in Rome for the final days of filming the drama "U-571" with Matthew McConaughey, but he already has at least two benefit appearances planned for when shooting wraps.

The first is a live performance on June 9 in London at a fashion event for Donatella Versace. Tagged "Diamonds Are Forever: The Millennium Celebration," the affair supports of a number of causes, including the Prince of Wales Foundation for Architecture and several cancer charities. Prince Charles is expected to be in attendance, along with a long list of other celebrities. The dress code is described as "black tie and diamonds."

The singer's second appearance will take place during a somewhat less formal function in (literally) his own back yard. Jon and his wife Dorothea, along with football star Doug Flutie and his wife Laurie, are hosting a fundraiser for children with autism at their new home in Red Bank, New Jersey in mid-June. The festivities will include a cocktail reception, dinner, live music, and a charity auction. The entire Bon Jovi lineup is expected to attend the invitation-only event, along with a cross section of entertainment and sports professionals.

Fans lacking invites will have to settle for seeing the frontman on the silver screen in mid-July when his film "Row Your Boat" makes its debut at the Stony Brook Film Festival on Long Island, New York, on July 21.

Richie Sambora appeared today (Sunday, May 24, 1998) at the B104 Listener Appreciation Concert at Union Park Terrace as part of the annual Mayfair in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
There were two opening acts -- Jennifer Dragon and her less-than-wisely-chosen cover of Aerosmith's "Pink" and the Rembrandts and the "Friends" song -- but while Richie's set was short, he was in great voice. He took the stage a little after 2:00 p.m., and did a mix of US and Jovi songs, all acoustic:

- Made in America
- Falling From Graceland
- Prayer '94
- Midnight Rider/Wanted
- In It For Love
- Hard Times Come Easy
He was joking and laughing in between songs. Richie wore faded black jeans, black boots, a dark blue t-shirt with a design and was clean shaven. The lawn area where the concert was held was scattered with fans of the four different bands, and many of the Jovi fans from the mailing lists and from several different states -- Maryland, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, as well as western Pennsylvania and local fans -- were up front cheering for Richie.
Richie was headed for the K104 festival at Thunder Ridge Ski Mountain in Patterson, NY for another appearance there after 4:00 p.m. At this time, these were his only two scheduled American shows.

On 9th of June there was a fascinating live performance of Jon Bon Jovi presenting his solo album in Hamburg, Grosse Freiheit. Jon played songs of his new album "Destination Anywhere" and lots of great old Bon Jovi stuff, incl. "Living on a prayer" (acoustic), "Keep the faith", "Blaze of Glory", "Wanted" and first time played live "Billy get your gun". The appr. 1500 spectators had great fun to watch and hear Jon per- forming his songs. The concert started with the Stones-song "Fade away", afterwards Jon played the new songs "Destination any- where", "Ugly", "Midnight in Chelsea", "Little city", "Naked" (super!) and some I donīt know yet. No question, the new songs are better than ever ! In Jonīs band there was no familiar face except Hugh on the bass guitar. The new lead guitar player Bobby ... was good, but of course he is no Richie Sambora ! It was very difficult to get tickets for this event and many people had to listen to it from outside. Support group was "Milk auf Ex" the young german band supporting Bon Jovi on their concerts last year in Germany. On 14th of July you can get their first CD "Platte des Monats" in the music stores. We came from Munich and I can tell you, it was worth each of the 1600 kilometres to drive !!! Frank

Jon Bon Jovi is very busy indeed. As well as co-hosting the world music awards with princess stephanie, he's just done his solo album, Destination anywhere. Then there are his acting interests- after roles in Moonlight and Valentino and the Leading Man, he's now got top billing in new film Long time nothing new, alongside Lauren Holly and Ed Burns. He's also set to appear in Little city (with Penelope Anne Miller) and Homegrown with oscar discovery Billy bob thornton. And perhaps inspired by good friends demi moore and bruce willis, he's enjoying his modelling career with versace.

JON BON JOVI has gone solo at last - and he's planning a double onslaught as he goes it alone. The American rocker will release his first ever official solo single in May, the same month as his latest movie THE LEADING MAN opens in Britain. The single, entitled MIDNIGHT IN CHELSEA, was co-written with actor BRUCE WILLIS, an old friend of Bon Jovi's who has dreams of being a rock star himself. An album, co-produced by Bon Jovi and ex-EURYTHMICS guitarist DAVE STEWART, will follow in the summer. This will be the rocker's first proper solo album. Although he did issue BLAZE OF GLORY in 1989, it was the soundtrack for the movie YOUNG GUNS II and was never considered by Bon Jovi to be an official solo release. However, the singer is quick to point out he's not intent on going it alone forever and is still looking forward to working with the rest of Bon Jovi next year. He says, "I love those guys. I don't see why I would quit. Look at the ROLLING STONES - they're still doing it. So why shouldn't I aspire to be like them."

WASHINGTON (AP) - After a week of stories about hundreds of guests staying overnight in the Lincoln Bedroom at the White House, President Clinton wound up his week Sunday night at the theatre where President Lincoln was shot. Comedian Bill Maher, host of the ``Politically Incorrect'' television show, joked about the president's current legal problems. ``I really appreciate the invitation - or subpoena,'' he quipped. Clinton and his wife, first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, had front row seats for the gala, which supporters said would raise more than $500,000 for the theatre's community outreach programs like acting workshops for inner-city youth. Other performers included singer Natalie Cole, who hosted the event, actor Kevin Spacey, singer Jon Bon Jovi and comedian Elayne Boosler. Among those attending were Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss. and Gen. John Shalikashvili, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. ``We love this old place,'' the president said at the end of the event. ``We love the idea that this scene of one our nation's greatest tragedies could bring so much joy, laughter and lift so many spirits.'' The show will be telecast on ABC in the spring.
